Lovely day!

Good morning!!

Over the weekend Peter and I took a little trip to nearby Solomon’s Island in Maryland.

WE were not alone on this trip, my father-in-law Pete, was with us as well. As a matter of fact, this was our present to him for his 86th birthday back in June. 

We picked Pete up at his home around 9:30 Saturday morning.

We arrived in Solomon’s a little bit after 11. So, it is not a far destination at all. Solomon’s Island is located on the very end of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay.

The first thing on the agenda upon arrival, LUNCH!!

And, we ate something we ALL really love— Crab bisque for starters and then, crab cakes! These crab cakes are to DIE for good. They are amazing.

Maryland can cook their crab cakes to precision. IF you are coming to the US at some point in the future, and IF you happen to be in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area— DO treat yourself to a crab cake sandwich. These sandwiches are packed with meat of Blue crabs from the Chesapeake bay. Enjoy said crab cakes with coleslaw and tartar sauce. World class.

DO order them in Maryland, there they are simply the top of the line THE best!

And the crab bisque is OOOO so good!

We also drove down to the state park, Point Lookout.

It is a fantastic place located at the very end of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. I love this place. Peter and I hiked here once, but it was in the winter and it was just as fab then as it was now.

I would have loved to stay there for a while longer than we did. Pete is 86 after all, and he does not really want to hike, or get too hot in the sun. So we just stopped by and took some pics.

 

On a hot summer day it is just fab being here.

I could have been here all afternoon long, but I would have been swimming every once in a while.

Do you think the sky looks threatening? Sure, it started to thunder once we got back to the hotel.

YESS!!

In the evening we returned to Solomon's again.

We had drinks at a bar, dinner at a seafood place and we ended the night with ice cream before we headed back to the hotel.

I am looking back on this weekend with a huge smile on my face.

 

This blooming tree is Crape Myrtle, they are in bloom everywhere now.  They are so pretty!

This huge moth sat on the rearvirew mirror the following morning.  So big.  So cool.

It is very cool, I think.  It is a Pandorus sphinx moth.  I have seen them before, outside our home.  They are so big that they do startle you. However, they are completely harmless.
