• I am going to Sweden, with Karolina, this upcoming Sunday! I cannot believe that it is time for the annual, long summer vacation again. Time flies, as always.
I am looking forward to it. And, I hope the weather will shape up some. I got a text from my mother the other day. While we had 102 degrees F in Williamsburg they had 52 degrees F at the summerhouse by the sea. Some difference right there, people.
• What to pack?
Summer clothes? Fall clothes? Or, a bit of both? Yes, I think so. I really do NOT want to schlep too many bags around, and I will try to keep our luggage to a minimum. Really. One suit case for me, and one for Karolina. That’s it.
• In an hour, I am heading up to the school where Karolina will receive an award today. I don’t know what kind of reward she will get, but it will be VERY interesting to see. I am a proud mom, as always.
• In two hours, I will be heading to McLean to get my hair cut and highlighted before I am going on my trip. BYE to the grey strands for now…
• The heat is on.
Yes, it really IS!!
We were in Williamsburg, VA over the weekend. We spent Saturday at Busch Gardens in PURE heat!
You can see pictures from Saturday in the blog post I wrote yesterday. The one below this post.
We spent our Sunday at Water Country USA, and that was a wise choice since Sunday was even hotter than Saturday.
I love Water Country USA. SO fun, and such fun rides.
The girls had so much fun, and the same went for me and Peter. Even though it was super hot we got such good relief in the water.
It is not easy carrying around a camera at WCUSA, so I don’t have a lot of pix from that place, but here are a few…
• And, yesterday was summer solstice…HOW sad is that? Now it will only get darker and darker again. June has reached it’s lightest point.
It is Midsummer celebration in Sweden on Friday. One of the biggest holidays of the year. HUGE holiday! It is second to Christmas. Sort of our National Day, even though it is not (June 6 is the National Day of Sweden).
People will celebrate BIG on Friday. The will dance around the May-pole, they will have herring lunches with aquavit; they will eat strawberries with cream or ice-cream. They will grill in the evening, and sing until the sun rises in the north-east again. My parents are in their summer house, and being that far north the sun hardly sets. It does not get dark the entire night. The sky is orange-red until the sun rises again around 2:30 or so. GOSH, I cannot wait for the white nights, I CANNOT WAIT!!!
