Weekend Mix.

Hi and good morning this very Tuesday!

May the weekend have treated you well, and may this upcoming week be a good one.

I also hope you all have had a nice Valentine’s Day.

Peter and I went to the monthly Swedish Happy Hour on Friday.

It was nice, as usual.

But the only sad thing that evening was that MY BOY ILIA did not get his gold medal in figure skating. I sorta blame the media, Ilia was so hyped and so “expected to win”. I mean, what pressure.

We were at the bar when he skated for gold. All the people in said bar were cheering him on, and as Ilia  fell and fell we all sighed in unison and everyone felt SO bad for him.

Ilia ended up placing eight.

BUT, he should be so proud no matter what. Ilia helped the entire US figure skating team to get the gold medal earlier in the games. Therefore he already has a gold medal.

Ilia is so young, he’ll be back.

On a great note, MY BOY will skate in the exhibition-gala on Saturday.

The exhibition in figure skating is GREAT to watch, only the best skaters and without ANY pressure whatsoever!

I am already looking forward to it.

 

Five Swedes and an American on Friday night. Anna, Magnus, Lotta, the two of us and Monica.

Saturday, we watched more of the Olympics. SO fun!

I get crazy into some events, like x-country skiing. How about Ebba Andersson's fall in the relay? Poor girl. But it is SO remarkable that Sweden managed to get the silver after all. What an achievement!!

Also on Saturday, Peter and I planned to take a walk along a well known trail located close to us. FUGGET ID!! 

The whole trail was covered in snow, ice and slush. Not a chance that we could have walked there. Frustrating.

Three weeks later, and some side walks are STILL buried under snow.

And three weeks in, there are still enormous snow piles everywhere. It is hard walking these days. It is also kinda risky in the mornings since lots of black ice forms overnight.

Oh well, this will be over soon.

BUT people, on Saturday Peter and I did hang out on our deck for the very first time this year.

The mercury reached almost 60F (14C) in the afternoon. It was zero problems hanging outside in the sunshine with a cup of tea. It felt so good.

Saturday night we enjoyed a fondue here at home.

Valentine’s and all …

 

Sunday, we watched Sweden (and Norway) take silver in Giant slalom.

I am sure a lot of you watched it. THAT was fun as well.

I missed the men’s x-country event due to the time difference, but so fun with another gold. I mean, it is hard to get up at 03-04 in the morning to watch the earliest of the cross country skiing events.

And then it was back to figure skating for me on Sunday and Monday. 

Time for the pairs to compete, love it so much!

A fun week is coming up with lots of new events. I think I will miss the olympics once it is over.
