Weekend happenings.

Hello Tuesday!

Are you all warm and cozy?
Did you have a nice weekend? I hope so!

I've learned a new word over the weekend---SNOWCRETE!
A play with the words snow and concrete.  It is perfect name for our snow condition.
Snowcrete, brilliant!!!

Well, it seems like my theme here last week was the weather.
How uniquely cold it's been here in the Washington DC area.  And, It still is.
But I do think that it’ll be a bit milder going forward.

However, Peter and I took a long walk in the neighborhood on Saturday morning.
Me? I wore my crampons (broddar) and I am so glad that I did. It was very cold, but the sun was shining from the bluest of skies.
As I have written before, there is never a lack of sunshine here.

I have to say that it was decent walk.
Sure, very few sidewalks are cleared, therefore we had to walk on the streets at times. Reston Association cleared all the paths in the woods last Sunday, so it is perfectly fine walking there. The ice on the snow is THICK. Like pure ice. So one can walk on the snow without any bigger problems.

We ended our walk with a lunch at a nearby coffee place. We entered the place with rosy cheeks and we certainly enjoyed our hot drinks and the sandwiches.

Come along!

Peter is walking on top of the very icy snow.

And yes, we went to the movies on Sunday!
The second time in a very short amount of time that we have been going to a movie theater.
We watched Send Help with Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien …
People, I don’t even know what to say?
I told Peter afterwards that I hated it. I think mostly because I expected something completely different. The more I think about this movie, the better it gets.
I wish I had known more about it going in. I did not realize that I was in for a comedy/thriller/horror movie. The movie took a turn that threw me off so badly. But now, I almost wish I could watch it again.

Interesting experience in the seats of said movie theater this time around.
It is called DBOX XD. The seats were heated (and let me tell you, it was good thing since the heat had broken down in that theater, believe it or not) and at the seats also vibrated and moved along with the movie.
The movie contains a very scary plane crash and you could feel everything in your seat. It was like sitting on a plane during turbulence.
Kinda fun, I gladly see another movie this way again. The movie has splendid reviews and it has 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Also, Peter and I have decided that we will continue seeing more movies at theaters.
Because, it is nice, you'll get SUPER good pop corn (haha) and you’re really concentrating on the movie as you sit there in the dark.

But the case IS, nowadays I am relying on subtitles so much.  And as you all know, movies at theaters are not subtitled.
Everything I watch via streaming is with subtitles and it helps a lot. I mean, I watch Swedish movies and tv-series with subtitles all the time as well. I have gotten so used to it, Peter as well. It really helps because without them you do miss a thing, or five …

OH, and yesterday was Groundhog Day!
And you all know what that means. DID Phil the groundhog see his shadow?
Or did he not? Will it be six more weeks of winter? OR, will it be an early spring?

Well, what did Phil in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania predict?
By the way, I am very thankful I do not live in that town, phew! Can you Imagine having to spell it out every time someone asks where you live …

PHIL has spoken, folks! It’ll be six more weeks of winter.
Who’s surprised? NOT me!

With this I wish you a very good Tuesday.

Vilken vacker vinterpromenad ni tog i ert fina område.
