I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
And I did tell you in my post on Friday that I was going to do something fun that night.
Now, I can tell you that my Swedish girlfriends here celebrated me and my upcoming 60th birthday!
My birthday is NOT coming up for about another three weeks, but the ladies celebrated me on Friday due to different reasons.
And, we played a really, really fun game. Put the Swedish entries to the Eurovision Song Contest in right order from 1966-2025 (all songs were not represented), and NO we did not get a full score. BUT soooo much fun.My gifts in the gift bag
Everything so beautifully done.
SO extremely generous in every way and form.
We were at my friend Lotta’s place here in Reston.
I had such a wonderful time the entire evening.
I am so very thankful for my Swedish community. For my friends!
We have all been here in the US for a very long time. Some of my friends are married to American men, others started out as expats on contracts. And, they ended up making a permanent home in the US instead of returning to Sweden.
So yes, we are all very rooted locals. To have a solid community of dear friends make all the difference in the world.
Our hostess Lotta is pouring the champagne, All my friends contributed to this party. This is how we roll when a big birthday is coming up in our group. Love it!
Susanna and I have known each other the longest, for 33 long years! Fantastic. We met when our hubbies took a Swedish class together. The hubsters did not learn much, haha. But we all became friends for life. And this is what I got, I got the Moomin figurine in brass from Skultuna. I also got a very generous gift card to a local restaurant group here in the DC-area. I am so thankful. THANK YOU, MY GIRLS!
But it was worth it!
I settled down in the couch and watched the fantastic exhibition gala in figure skating.
I enjoyed every moment of it! What a fantastic exhibition, all skaters so happy and relaxed.
And what an ending of said gala with ALL these champions on the ice. GAWD how I love figure skating!!
Sunday Peter and I woke up early to see Ebba Andersson take the gold in the 50K skiing race. WHAT a QUEEN Emma A is! Totally outstanding!
She did not even look that tired after racing 50-goddamn-kilometers.
Then I watched the curling, and despite me not understanding the rules, it was still fun.
And I am SO happy that Sweden won gold!! But the rules, people, the RULES!! I wish I understood at least a tad bit …
And, then it was time for the hockey game, US-Canada.
Holy Moly Miss Molly what a GAME!! WAR! I was so engaged in it.
And SO HAPPY when US won the gold! So happy.
It’s been 46 years since the last time they won Olympic Gold in hockey.
When Sweden won the hockey gold 2006 I went out on the deck and SCREAMED, SWEEEEEEDEN WOOOOOOON GOOOOOOOLD all over the golf course.
This time around I went out on the deck and again and SCREAMED, YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLD!!!
Sometimes I seem to be totally into to sports, haha. BUT it is almost only during the olympics. And especially the winter games.
Happy that Sweden did so good during these Olympics!
I will miss the Olympics now.
There have been sports that I have not watched a second of, like speed skating, bob sled, skeleton, half pipe and probably many others.
BUT I will miss my favorites SO much.
My lovely long
afternoons in front of the figure skating events.
My mornings in front of the skiing (and some curling) events.
I’ll miss it! ALL!!
And the winter returned.
From this ... Yes, the snowcrete almost dissapeared last week.
Friends, have a good Tuesday!
