The long weekend.

Happy December, friends!

It’s been a while since I wrote here.
A whole Thanksgiving weekend has come, and gone.

As for you all, I hope your weekend was great.

And December it is!!
How strange is that?
And also, so very lovely! The whole month of December is like one long Friday.

Yes, our weekend.
We started it with a hike in Maryland. We hiked the battlefields of Antietam.
During the Civil War, one of the bloodiest battles were fought at Antietam.
During one day, September 17 1862 , 23.000 soldiers lost their lives there. Horrible.
I live in a part of the US where so many battles took place during the Civil War. There were a lot of battles in, and around, Northern Virginia.
Nowadays these fields belong to the US Parkservice. You can hike around these battlefields, or you can drive around them with your car. The fields are huge and take up lots of land. They are all hollowed grounds.

Guess what, hahaha, we ditched the Parade on TV and watched Stranger Things instead. We could not resist. WE are now done with the first four episodes. Good stuff, as always. Very exciting. Cannot wait to watch the next segment on Christmas. And then the absolute final chapter on New Year’s Eve. I am sure we were not alone in inhaling these four episodes over the past weekend.

We enjoyed a very good dinner at Peter’s sister Melinda and her husband, Sam’s, house. Lots of foods. Good company and good talks. We are so thankful for celebrating with them all.

It was time to head up to Reston Town Center for the Christmas parade.
It was a cold one, let me tell you! Windy, sunny and chilly.
The movie we watched this time around was “Eternity”, and we all really liked it. It is about the afterlife and its choices. It made us laugh and it also made us a bit emotional. It was beautiful.
Afterwards we met up with our good friends, Susanna and Marc, and had dinner with them. Reston Town Center is all decorated for Christmas and it is so lovely. As always!

We got our tree.  And, we decorated it the same afternoon.
It is Christmas in our house. Pictures from my decked out mid-level will follow in a later post this week, you all!!

A tiny little preview of our tree.  And Peter's beer on Saturday night ;)

Have a very good Tuesday!!!
