Needless to say, I love it here!
BUT, I’ll tell you more about that later on.
Today we are going to take a look at the fourth part of our road trip, travelogue part four.

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day!
THIS is what we woke up to our last morning in Arkansas. Take a look!
I felt a huge urge inside to just stay in this beautiful area of the country.
Arkansas, you proved me so very, very wrong in every single way.
I love it when life gives me these kind of presents.
Ummm … And after that it was time for me to play THE STALKER …
I don’t even know how to say this …
BUT I have been following the Duggar family for years. This family both fascinates and disgusts me tremendously. I love snarking on this family and yet I am kind of obsessed with them.
The Duggars are an ultraconservative right wing family in NW Arkansas. This fam has 19 children, and I do not now how many grandkids. The parents are exactly Peter’s and my age.
The kids range from 14-33 years old. They used to have their own hugely popular reality show on TLC called 19 Kids and Counting. Later, after one of the scandals, TLC focused on the older girls in a show called Counting On (that I also watched with the biggest interest back in the day).
There has been numerous scandals surrounding this family. AND, if you have Amazon Prime there is a documentary about them now, it is called Shiny, Happy People.
Needless to say, I’ve watched all four parts over the weekend with the biggest interest!
SO we did, we drove by it. I felt like a stalker galore, haha. BUT, I took pics of the house. I did see two of the brothers, and I did see places that I have seen in the show.
STALKER much? HAHA.
That is me. But it was fun regardless.
But the stalking did not last long.
We took off for Oklahoma.
And Dearest, finest Arkansas, I will be BACK!! You star of the midwest/south.
What do you really count Ark to be part of geography wise, I am not sure ..?
Driving in to Oklahoma. Hello!
This is TRUE fly-over country.
Flat as pancakes, only crop field upon crop field for days.
And flat. SO. VERY. FLAT.
You'll see silos that are so big that they sometimes look like big housing complexes …
It is boring, so boring.
No trees, no hills at ALL, farm houses here and there out on the fields.
And yes, maybe a few trees surrounding the homesteads.
To top it off, the sun is beating down all day long over the flat crop fields.
A little town showed up along the road every now and then.
It is really nothing more than this.
It is both fascinating and so boring at the same time.
It is Flatland U.S.A.
No wonder that it is also Tornado Alley. Here tornados can get super sized and grow deadly in NO time at all. SCARY.
No, we did not see a single tornado, nor was the weather bad.

People, stay away from this place. SO boring and a big tourist trap.
A mind numbing town that I would never recommend anybody to visit.
So sorry, Kansas, I cannot say anything nice about you.
However, I realize that I just travelled on Interstates and highways. I am sure you have your gems as well.
But what we saw was just a big ass pancake without .. nothing …

BUT, there is some humor, too. Like this mural, Cousin Eddie!! Do you remember Cousin Eddie from National Lampoons's Vacation (Ett päron till farsa). Needless to say, we HAD to make a stop in this little village.
More Cousin Eddie. I loved this!! So fun! Remember when Clark (in National's Lampoon) picked up Aunt Edna at Cousin Eddie's and Aunt Catherine's house in Kansas ... PRICELESS. Humor!!
And just like that we left Kansas and drove in to Colorado.

Sedan kan jag nog hålla med dig till 100% att Oklahoma och Kansas verkar vara väldigt tråkigt att åka igenom. Platt, platt, platt och så lite silos på det.

Duggar family, 19 barn.... nästan onödigt med en kommentar, men hur i hela fridens namn har hon fixat 19 graviditeter kan man fråga sig och se till att alla mår bra och växer som de ska, måste vara dyrt också.
Så många olika naturer ni fått uppleva på er roadtrip, helt otroligt och än är det väl mycket kvar att uppleva.
Tack för att jag fått följa med på färden, så kul att se och läsa om olika stater och städer i det stora landet.

Sedan var det verkligen platt och så enahanda att jag säkert skulle känna mig nedtryckt efter några timmar. Utsikten från ert hotellrum var talande, det passade så bra in i hela din bild av dessa två stater. Sedan är det säkert som du skriver, det finns annat och jag vet ju att det finns de som älskar ett platt landskap där man kan se hur långt som helst, men det är definitivt inte för mig (heller)!
Men nu ska det bli roligt att läsa om er vistelse i Colorado, även om jag ser lite på Instagram, så är det så roligt att läsa dina långa resebrev här!

As for Oklahoma, yep, it's pretty flat. There is a nice hill country area outside Tulsa, though, so everything isn't flat. Tulsa actually hs a few nice museums, focusing on Western and Native American art and history.
Speaking of prairie, Arkansas has the Grand Prairie in the eastern/southeastern part of the state. It's part of the Arkansas Delta region, which is vastly different from the northwest region you visited. I just want to point that out in case someone reads this and thinks the whole state looks like the Beaver Lake region--it definitely doesn't! Still worth a visit, though.
As for the Duggars, I remember seeing part of the clan at Walmart before TV fame. Dressed the same and the girls with long hair. I always felt sorry for the kids, and I still do. I often wonder what they could have become had they been allowed to be "normal" kids. At least it seems like a few of them have "escaped" that life.
Looking forward to hear about Colorado next!

JA, så mkt olika natur det finns. I samma land. TÄNK vad den ändrar sig. Otroligt.
Samma i Sverige. Det fina i Skåne är att det böljar och att det finns träd och fina byar och städer. En helt annan platthet än denna pannkaka och dessa sädesfält.

19 barn har Michelle född 66. Plus två missfall.
Jadu, hela hennes liv har gått åt till att vänta och föda barn. Och ja ... familjen har sina lik i garderoben kan man säga. De fick massor med pengar från TLC under alla år de hade sin reality show där. Tack vare den klarade de sig "bra". Men som sagt, ingen vidare familj när man skrapar lite på ytan.

Ja, att vakna till den soluppgången i Ark var en enda dröm!
Jag började nästan gråta över hur vackert det var när solen började stiga över sjön. Absolut, kommer att återkomma till Ark. Bor gärna på det trevliga hotellet igen i just det rummet. Suveränt.
OK ch KS ja, vad kan jag säga ...
Har inget positivt alls att säga om de staterna. MEN jag åkte bara på interstates hela tiden, vek inte av. SÅ klart finns det guldkorn. MEN jag såg inget av dem.
Hotellrummet i Dodge C. Ja snacka om kontrast till det i Ark, haha!!! Det liksom passade in perfekt, haha.
Platta landskap är inget för mig, jo om det finns skogar och sjöar eller hav. Men inte när det bara är sädesfält och torkrior.
Jag blir deppad av det också.

Alltså så inte kul. Öppna landskap i all ära, men det här är bara för mkt. Från horisont till horisont bara platta sädelsfält. Fascinerade och totaltrist på en och samma gång.
Visserligen älskar jag också att se himmel som bara välver sig över en, men det här blir lite väl ...

Yes, for sure. I do realize that both OK and KS have lovely and interesting areas. But when one travels along an interstate it is not that fun. I mean, I can say the same about I-95 on the east coast. Also super boring and congested. At least the roads were all clear in OK and KS.
Yes, we drove thru many Native American Reservations--and that in itself is interesting. I would have liked to see more of that.
I am sure the prairie in Ark is a bit nicer than the one in KS, thou (haha).
Eastern CO is not that fun either, that is for sure. Prairie land there as well.
The Duggars, I am sure of the fact that the entire NW Ark have seen them roam around. Just like you did at Walmart.
ME TOO, I am so with you, what would have become of the Duggar kids if they have had a normal upbringing. It hurts me to think of their childhood. And of their adulthood, too. I am glad Jill and Jinger have broken free. I think Jill is super brave and I admire her for her strength.
It is an interesting family, that is for sure. I am glad they get exposed now. I am sure JimBob is shaking ...
