Good morning Tuesday!!
A new week is upon us.
Another weekend has come, and gone.
I hope you all had a good one.
Mine was good. An energy boost if you will.
Do you guys remember that I told you that I was going to a wine evening on Friday? I was going to see my Swedish girlfriends. All of them. AT the same time. INDOORS!
A true girls night in, in other words.
AND a girls night in it was! Not only that, it was a surprise party as well for one of my friends. Lotta is turning 50 in June, but she is heading to Sweden for almost three months on Monday.
So, us Swede gals in the Svennegruppen wanted to give her a proper 5-0 birthday celebration before she takes off. She had no clue that it’d be a surprise party, or so she says …
The rest of us girls came to Sara’s place early to prepare for Lotta’s arrival.
Sara had decorated so beautifully!!
We were all in a fantastic mood. It felt so fun seeing everybody again. Lotta arrived and by that, SURPRISE!!
It turned out to be a wonderful evening in every way.
First and formost we were toasting and singing for the almost 50 year old.
Then, we were having appetizers and drinks for nearly four hours until we finally sat down for dinner. During those four hours, we were chatting away and we were also singing and dancing to old Swedish and international hits. SO FUN!!
Anna made dinner for us all, so good. After dinner, we continued the singing and dancing. And, we did not have coffee and cake until almost 23:00.
We left Sara’s at midnight, and by that point we had partied for almost eight hours. What an energy boost it was. FOR all of us!!
Lotta’s husband Magnus drove me home, soooo thankful for that.
I can honestly say that it was a night to remember. SO much fun!
MAKE a wish!!!
Saturday night we were going to celebrate our friend Keith’s newly minted master’s degree!!
He just graduated from University of North Carolina Greensboro.
So, we were so happy for all three of us to toast Keith at one of our favorite restaurants in Reston Town Center.
And, it started out so perfect with gin and tonics, wine and good appetizers in a very cozy environment. And all of a sudden, POOOOOF, no power. DARK!!
Power outage galore in the entire Reston Town Center. But, we thought that it would be a quick fix so we were sitting pretty in the dark enjoying or drinks and hoping for the power to come back.
NOPE, no such thing. After 45 minutes we had to give up. The waitress took our payment the old fashioned way, she had to write down the credit card number on a slip. It worked, or so we think, haha.
It is so sad for all the restaurants that just had started to pick up business again. Because people do go out now. And the restaurants need ALL the customers they can get.
I think our restaurant was as fully booked as it is possible during the current Covid restrictions, and the same goes for most other places in Reston Town Center on Saturday night, they were fully booked. Bummer for them all.
The reason for the power outage? SOME “smart” person hade decided to climb some power towers … SO, due to this person's stupidity, the power company had to shut off the power in almost all of Reston for a very long time Saturday night.
WHAT was this person thinking as he started to climb up? I guess we’ll never know. But he ruined a Saturday night for ALL restaurants, bars and establishments around town. He ruined it for them and for all the customers who really wanted a night out. WHAT a BUZZ KILL!!!
Yesterday, Mother’s Day.
Karolina sent me these!!! So SWEET!!
Peter and I enjoyed a nice breakfast and then a super good vegetarian dinner.
AND, now we are back to a regular week again.
It is cooler than normal, kind of gray. OH well.
Have a good Tuesday!!
