Good morning Tuesday!
Let us take a little trip down to the OBX again, shall we?
There will be a couple of more posts about this wonderful place in the world before I call it quits.
I mean, it is one of my favorite places in the world after all.
Usually it is me, and only me, who’s venturing out before the crack of dawn. The rest of the gang are just snoozing away inside the house as I leave.
SO, out I go into the early morning to greet the sun.
BUT, one day during our week at the beach Peter joined me. That was the morning we borrowed the bicycles Karolina and Mike had rented the day before.
It was wonderful to take off with the bikes in the twilight of the early morn.
OBX is made for biking, really. FLAT as a pancake.
It was so nice to go biking instead of just walking. I mean, you do get to places fast on a bike. AND you get exercise. What is not to love?
We have now decided that we will rent bikes for the entire week(s) next time we visit the OBX.
Peter and I biked to Rodanthe Pier.
THAT is a magical place, I have got to say!
I’ve been there several times before at sunrise. Sometimes I have walked there, sometimes I have taken the car. This was the first time I got there by bike.
It was so beautiful as always.
Rodanthe Pier at sunrise.
Early morning in Rodanthe.
There is magic.
Rent a bike, y'all!
The area around Rodanthe Pier is unique as well. There are hardly any sand dunes there. So, some of the houses are practically located ON the water.
It looks almost unreal, like it’s taken right out of a fairly tale.
That is why I love it so much.
We have said that we MIGHT rent one of these houses one year. Maybe we will. BUT I am not a big fan of dragging in a lot of sand to the house.
I mean, I love the beach so much, but I am not a fan of the sand, haha. And the sand is everywhere.
SO if you practically live on the waterline it must be impossible not to have the entre house filled with sand. DO you remember that episode of Friends when the six of them were renting a beach house and the entire floors inside consisted of SAND? Yeah, that one, GROSS. HAHA.
Not a fan. Of SAND!
But I am a FAN of the location of these houses.
Me, my camera and myself ...
Rodanthe beach houses.
THIS is BY FAR the most famous house of them all. It is the house from the movie "Nights in Rodanthe". This is an older pic, this time around I did not get as close to this house as I wanted as it was rented out. I love this house, even though Karolina and I are convinced it is haunted ... This house USED to be right on the water line, but it was moved up to the sand dunes many years ago as it was eroding into the sea. If you want to check this house out online, google search The Inn at Rodanthe.
THIS is how close I got this year. But, from another angle. This house IS cool!!
Right on the water.
The good thing in renting a bike is that you can reach places that you cannot reach with a car. You can get to hidden beach access points so easily and without an effort.
So we did.
I love it!!
THIS house is beyond cool as well. It is the first house you'll see as you drive south on highway 12 coming into Rodanthe. But here I am looking at it north from the beach.
And here in Reston-land it is getting more and more fall like. I do not mind that ONE bit. Fall is my favorite season, after all.
Pretty soon I will embrace the season to the max.
Misty mornings, oooo how I love thee!!
Have a good Tuesday!!!
