Good morning Tuesday!
HOW are you?
HOW are you feeling?
HOW are you coping?
Life under the black umbrella goes on.
And on ...
And on …
I am so tired of this now. I just cannot wait for things to normalize again.
But, as always, we are trying to do the very best out of a sucky situation.
Saturday morning Peter and I headed for the trails again.
We did return to Difficult Run. Our plan was to hike into Great Falls National Park.
Yes, ALL the National Parks are closed right now. BUT, if you can hike in you are certainly welcome to visit. However, all amenities inside the the parks are closed, the gift shops, the bathrooms, and the drinking water fountains.
And sure, ALL parking areas are closed.
It is time to start our walk on VERY muddy trails. It has been raining so much in the DC area lately and it sure showed on the dirt trails.
But look at the light green trees. Love it!
Mud, mud and water all over the place.
Difficult Run stream.
Peter and I parked along the very busy, narrow and windy road—Georgetown Pike.
From there we headed down to Difficult Run and the trails there.
Pretty soon we had reached the outskirt of Great Falls Park and we headed for The River Trail. The River Trail winds along The Potomac River.
It is ONE beautiful trail. It gets a bit technical at times, but it is SO worth it!
The highest point of the River Trail is gorgeous!! BUT do not slip and fall here.
Why is the river so brown? Because of all the rains.
These trees are really meant to be on land. BUT not now!!
The hikers are sporting the sweaty look.
Potomac River itself was ROARING!! I do not think I have ever seen as much water in the river as it is now.
It HAS been raining like crazy in our area lately, as you know. And—O boy—did it show!!
This time around Peter and I brought a nice picknick lunch. We enjoyed the food on a warm rock right next to the river along The River Trail.
OH how I love days like these!!!
That wonderful moment when you are about to enjoy some coffee and a sandwich as you watch the Potomac River roll by.
Our lunch view. Kinda perfect!
Hiking on towards the falls.
When we were done eating we hiked on to the overviews of the falls in the park.
Was it crowded there?
No, not really. BUT, there were certainly a fair amount of people out and about. All had hiked in, just as we did.
Approaching one of the first overlooks. A few people are out and about.
I HAVE never seen the Great Falls looking like this. I have never seen this much water in the river.
So, the tally turned out to be 12.6 kilometers (about 8 miles) for the hubster and I.
We were very pleased with that. And, the hike itself was awesomely great!
When we got home again we worked on our deck. SOOOO now the deck is set up and ready for the summer season!!
It feels sooooo good to have the deck in order.
In the summer time, it turns out to be like a second living room for us. And this summer it will be more important than ever to have a super cozy and great deck to hang out on.
I am telling you, if you fall in you'd die fast.
SO, that was our weekend.
Yesterday I fixed my little front yard as well. Now it is planted and ready for the summer.
I feel so good about it.
I love it. Täppan is Done and Done, yay!!
Peter shot a video. I hope you all can see it.
Have a nice Tuesday and may you all feel good and OK.
