Good morning guys!
I hope you all had a good weekend.
And, yes, we did venture out on a hike! The weather turned out good so Peter and I decided to make it a go.
It’s been a while since the last time we’ve been hiking. A very long while, as a matter of fact.
Hence that fact, we decided to take it easy on this hike. We set out for The Potomac Heritage Trail this time around. Although we did hike on The Appalachian Trail for some miles as well. The two trails merge at one point for quite a few miles.
It is time to take that long walk again ...
The weather was good, not too hot or humid.
We walked along the Potomac River during the entire hike. However, the greenery is so dense for over half of this walk, you cannot even spot the river thru the trees.
Sometimes it is like walking in a green tunnel.
It can get to be a bit monotone …
SO green and lush in nature now. Full, true summer it is!
And here we're merging with The A.T
The trail itself is a flat as can be, and it is a gravel trail. I love, love, love gravel trails.
So, it is not a technical or difficult hike in any way or form. At all.
Lots of activities on the Potomac River, just as always in the areas around Harpers Ferry. This is where the Shenandoah River merges with the Potomac.
We decided to start in Brunswick, Maryland and hike to Harpers Ferry in West Virginia.
So, we did!
This particular hike was about 9 miles from point A to point B, and then we added 3 miles to point C.
Once we merged with the AT we got to see more of The Potomac River and that gave us the energy boost we needed.
A dusty gravel trail it is.
Now we have reached Harpers Ferry.
The hikers du jour.
When we got to Harpers Ferry, we enjoyed super good hamburgers. I am telling you, a burger is the ultimate hiker food!
THAT is what you are craving, at least I do
The Sandy Hook bridge between Maryland and Virginia.
After lunch we decided to hike half way back again. And, we did!
Ah, yes, at the half way point we took an Uber back to our car. Perfect.
All in all we hiked 12 miles, or 19 kilometers. A respectable distance, I think. However, my knee is acting up a little bit, so I am taking it a bit easy.
Have a good Tuesday!
