The party of the year!?
Yes, that one has to be the annual crayfish party!
A crayfish party that is ALWAYS hosted by our good friends Lotta and Magnus. They live here in Reston as well.
Really, really tasty welcome drinks!
... And Halloween is just around the corner ...
Karolina was there as well! ALL evening long. This is the first time since her freshman year in high school (I believe) she's been able to attend one of the crayfish parties.
Every year our Swedish friend group gets treated to a lovely evening filled with excellent food, great drinks and lots of laughter.
It is a treat to be “on the list” of invitees.
We all look forward to this party every fall. Well, maybe not the hosts so much since this is INDEED a huge ordeal to pull off, haha. But, you’ll never ever hear them complain or sigh about it. No, quite the contrary actually.
Sara, Jocke and Susanna.
Karolina and Iris. Iris is Magnus and Lotta's youngest daughter. Iris is a junior in high school. Elsa, their oldest girl, is a junior at University of Virginia. Elsa wasn't home for this party. Karolina and Iris have known each other their entire lives.
I took a quick look in my dairies. As you all know I have kept a diary since 1996, when Karolina was born.
Those diaries are like gold to me. I can always go back and look up dates, happenings and situations. Awesome.
It looks like Lotta and Magnus have been hosting this party since 2003. In other words, 16 whole years!
Lotta, Magnus, Rob, Anna and Jonathan.
And the seating arrangements? This time you had to pair Trump quotes. SOOOOO funny!!! These two are not a pair. But, I love the creativity behind this!
Well, as always, I should have brought my Canon!
I have, after all, given myself a promise to take more pics with my Canon from now on. But, alas, Canon stayed back home on Saturday night.
All these pics are taken with my iPhone. And, they got fuzzier and fuzzier as the night progressed, haha!
How we got home? UBER, of course!
Gotta love that app and service!
Some dancing as well! Yes, indeed!
Fuzzy, fuzzy. But so telling ... young and old!
A lovely party, indeed. Thank you—dear, good friends—for hosting!
The dessert table. SO good!
