It’s been a nice Saturday, Sunday and Monday in my neck of the woods.
No hiking this weekend for us.
BUT, instead Karolina is at home.
What I very selfishly love is that NONE of Karolina’s close high school friends are home from their respective university. Well, one was, but not the whole crowd.
When Karolina’s HS-friends are at home in Reston, we will have to share her with all of them, haha.
Bluemont Vinery is such a nice place to visit!
Views for days. Yes, you can even see Reston from here. And, on a very clear day you can see all the way to DC.
It is just so darn nice having your young adult daughter at home.
She’s leaving for Elon this afternoon again. Flying back.
The next time we’ll see her will be at Thanksgiving in the end of November.
But, time flies, so she’ll be here soon again.
Karolina enjoyed a flight of different wines. Her favorite was the rose wine. Do you see the drone- like creature in the middle left of the photo? Well, that drone is a BEE!! There were so many bees buzzing around us, but they did not bother us.
And, the sun came out and warmed us all.
So, it’s been a weekend of good food, board games, a bit of TV-watching, walks and a trip to our favorite Northern Virginia vineyard, Bluemont.
Karolina has never been there, and now that “she is of age” it was time to take her there.
We had such a great afternoon there.
When we got there it was quite cloudy, and bit on the cool side. BUT the clouds made way for the sun and it got really nice and warm.
Karolina loved it out in Bluemont, and what is NOT to love.
I love Bluemont so very MUCH!!
Next time when we visit Bluemont we will hang out at this outdoor bar with our wine and food. Awesome!!
Virginia wines are nothing to write home about, I have to be totally honest here. BUT, Virginia has SO, SO many wineries for you to visit.
And, they are SO damn cozy. They usually have a really cool atmosphere AND the surroundings are beautiful.
When you sip wine at these vineyards the wine actually tastes all right. BUT, if you bring a bottle home you’ll get so disappointed when you uncork a bottle.
No, Virginia wines have NOTHING when you compare them to California, Oregon or Washington State wines.
The summers are too hot and humid here, and the nights during the summer too hot to produce a great wine.
However, when you visit, and sip the wine, in a Northern Virginia vineyard you are so in the moment, and therefore the wine will taste totally fine to you, haha.
This is where the owners live. Also, the vineyard employs 19 of their grandchildren. Kinda cool.
So, if you guys asked me; Annika should I visit a Virginia winery?
Well, then my answer would be; HELL YEAH!! Yes, you should!!!
YOU’LL love it! But, you may not like the wine so much. But you WILL love the place, and you will like the food.
Heck, who knows, you may even like the wine!?
I am not YOU! You might like it, ya know!!
Have a good Tuesday!!
