It sure is summer here where I live.
Yesterday morning I took an early PW. I think I left the house around 7:15. You have to do your exercises early in the day when the weather is this hot and this humid. I would not want to do a work out midday. I would not like to do it in the afternoons either. You all know how hot the afternoons get.
The hottest time of the day is between 14-19, or something along those lines.
You have seen me taking this route in pictures many times before, thru different seasons. This is how it looks in the middle of the summer during a warm summer morning.
My front yard. Lush and happy!
One of the paths in the early morning.
Down by lake Thoreau. When I shot these pictures it was SO hot in the sun. SO. HOT. I think this pic is taken around 7:30
Go for a morning swim? No, I think not. Sometimes you do see people swim in the lakes. It looks so serene and lovely. But, I have no desire to swim with snapping turtles and snakes :-)
Oh, look at this floating veranda. Doesn't it look lovely!!
How warm? Well, I say it was around 80 F, 26 C. It is around 7:30 AM, as I mentioned earlier.
It takes me about an hour to walk around Lake Thoreau. Next to Lake Thoreau is Lake Audubon, the biggest lake in Reston. If I walk around Lake Audubon it takes slightly longer. When Karolina and her friends are swimming in the lakes, they prefer to swim in Lake Audubon.
The summers here are, as you all know, nothing but hot. You will never have to doubt that fact.
It cannot get as hot as it gets here in the Nordic countries, I think that is impossible, and it will absolutely not get as humid there as it is here.
To understand this kind of heat you have to experience it. I had heard about it before I came to DC (MANY YEARS AGO), but I could never have imagined how BAD it would be.
No, I don't think you can get used to it, either.
Yes, In Scandinavia we are sometimes complaining about cool and damp summers. Here people are complaining about hot and humid summers.
Today--Tuesday--- we will be experiencing record heat in my neck of the woods Yes, RECORD heat. It will be around 98 degrees F today, that is 37 on the Centigrade scale. IT will be so hot that you do not want to even go outside,
But, I will have to drive Karolina to the oral surgeon. Karolina will have a wisdom tooth removed. She's a bit nervous about it. I think it will go just fine.
When I removed mine, one by one, I biked home from the dentist after the procedures. I had mine removed in Sweden in my mid-twenties. I have zero memory of it being hard, or scary.
However, Karolina is not allowed to drive herself home after the surgery. So, I'll be the chauffeur.
Have a good one, Y'all!!
