It is Tuesday, yet again.
Three more days of High School to go for a certain someone.
Strange and bizarre.
Since this is such a big part of my life it would be odd for me (NO, it'd be impossible) not writing about it.
Our lives will be so different in the fall.
Peter and I will become “empty nesters”.
Yes, a couple with a “grown up” daughter in college.
Truly middle aged.
SO very middle aged.
And, yet again, I feel so young.
The preparations for the graduation party are going strong.
I have decided to skip the idea of catering.
Instead, I’ll make all the food myself.
A good friend of mine, Lotta (the Swedish master chef here in Reston) will make the cake. AND, that is good, since I have ZERO skills when it comes to baking. I am thankful for Lotta.
Other than the cake, I’ll make the food.
I think that will be OK. And, I think I got the logistics of it down.
Of course, I have Peter here, too. And he’s a master when it comes to organizing and planning.
And, to be honest, I am kind of used to throwing bigger parties a couple of times a year. So, this should be a cake walk, or so I tell myself...
Yesterday I went on my first shopping spree for this party.
At Dear old Costco.
Costco is a wholesale store that I think most of the people I know here belong to.
And, it is a good, good place to go when you need to buy stuff in large quantities.
You can buy big cases of beer here!
And the produce department is great, and so fresh!
Lots of beer...
Wine with good prices!
You can buy a salads if you get hungry, or wraps. But, you can easily share these big packs!
This is good STUFF!! I¨ll bring a few to Sweden when I go. Yum, yum!!!
Candy in BIG jars!! Jenny Belly's. YUM!!!
And, there is a pharmacy there as well. Also, the meats and fish at this store are premium!
I can also tell you that the weather yesterday was super HOT and humid.
A bit of torture.
I was drenched when I came back from my PW. And, keep in mind that I leave for said walk a little after 7 AM.
So, the hot summer is here.
Sometimes it is like I live in a swamp! Hot, sticky and humid.
