I was out walking yesterday, as always. During my walk I was looking for signs of spring...
Good Morning, dear Tuesday readers!
...Signs of spring, that was the mission, I was going to photograph what I found. Sadly, I found NOTHING!
Sure, I did find the poor little snowdrops that have been showing their delicate beauty for a while now. BUT, there are no crocuses out yet, and the forsythia is not even close to be in bloom.
What is this?
My snowdrops. In the afternoon yesterday the weather was actually quite nice!
The forsythia shows no signs of blooming. Yet.
Sure, I get it, we have had a record cold winter so naturally spring will be late!
It is so strange to see that spring is further along in Sweden than it is HERE!! I think that must be a first!
A true first.
Good for you, Swedes. Well, I should add that spring is early in the southern parts of Sweden, not up north. Or, it is probably early there, too. What am I talking about...?
Cherry blossoms. I did see an Instagram post yesterday from Stockholm! The Instagrammer showed cherry blossoms!! IN the beginning of MARCH!! IN Stockholm. THAT has to be so very, very unusual.
I can remember times when the Cherry trees have been blooming HERE in Washington DC in mid-March (and that is even early), but in Stockholm!!??
That is almost too bizarre...
Folks, what is up with the weather?
What is up with this “upside down” winter we’ve all been having?
Should we be concerned?
Well, maybe, this IS very strange.
There is NO point in cleaning the deck yet. Spring is not here. If I want to sit outside in the sunshine I will simply do so on the front steps of my home.
There is absolutely no point in putting my little table and chairs out front yet.
On Thursday it will be -1 C.
On the deck behind my house I have a couple of chairs where I can sit if it gets to be that warm. But to make the deck spring ready? NO, point. Pointless.
But the sky was so blue, blue, blue...
I know, I know, I know...
SPRING will come.
Pretty soon I will be a complaining B***H! I will complain that it is too hot, too early.
I will complain when the air is thick full of pollen, and when the cars are covered in a blanket of sticky, yellow residue.
I will sneeze and I will wheeze.
Really, it will come. SO soon, too, I am sure.
BUT, right now I am actually longing for warmer days (NOOOOT 25 degrees C, but maybe 18?).
I am longing for cherry blossoms, forsythia, tulips, daffodils, magnolias, eastern redbuds and, of course, the dogwoods!!
Doogwood is the state-flower of Virginia and you’ll find them everywhere when time comes.
I am SO ready for it.
I did find some lonely crocuses. I found them! They look a little lost. But, they made me so happy!
However, as of now I am just waiting.
And, I never, ever long for any seasons, really. I am living in the moment. Enjoying them all.
Love them all.
But, right now this “no-season” between winter and spring is eating me. A BIT!
Oh, and the pics! I shot them yesterday afternoon when it was 15 degrees C outside. It was actually quite nice, by then!
Some snow is still around, but NOT for long!
Have a good Tuesday, my dearest readers!!
