Good morning, dear readers!
I hope you are all having a good Tuesday!
I feel kind of happy today because we are getting our new floor put in!
Oh the joy! My house will look good again, and get out of it’s “dump status”. Right now we have a lot of stuff spread out over two levels.
Peter and I have been painting the rec-room. We painted over the weekend. Painting is kind of fun as soon as the prep-work is over with.
The painting itself is sort of almost therapeutic.
When all is said and done I think I’ll post some before, and after, pictures.
I think it’ll take the handymen all day today to lay the new floor. It will be loud, but that is A-OK.
Yesterday the weather was nothing but boring. We got so much rain, and the temperature was a mere 0- 2 degrees C.
That kind of weather is simply the kind of weather that makes you cold to the bone.
Don’t you agree?
I did boring Monday chores, you know like grocery shopping, cleaning a bit, laundry.
A regular Monday. A square, regular Monday.
But, I like that. I like every day life in so many ways.
Karolina’s days as a Fairfax County Public School student are nearing the end.
We get info almost daily about graduation now.
It is SO strange that I will not have a little girl in the house next school year. I do not have to make a lunch box/bag every school day, as I do now. My kid refuses to eat the school lunches, so I have to pack her lunch.
A sandwich, gold fish, tomatoes, an orange and an apple. It is the same lunch box almost every day.
I would be so tired of it, if I was her. But, alas, she likes it, my PICKY little eater. I do not have to drive her to school, and sit in a long car line, every morning with a sleepy child next to me. The high school kids start at 7:20 here. Needless to say they are ALL tired. I really hate the fact that the teenagers have to roll out of bed so early. But, alas, it is soon over for us.
I will not have to check the snow day status next year. Well, maybe for my own sake, but not for Karolina’s.
It will be SO strange! Believe me! The more I think about it the stranger it gets.
You have this little child for 18 years. You have her every day, you talk to her, you drive her places (before she had her own license), you make plans, you eat dinners together, you hang out, you watch your favorite tv-shows together.
Well, you all, come fall I’ll have none of that.
OH well, it is not as sad as it might seem. I am so happy for Karolina’s sake that she will get in to (HOPEFULLY!!) one of her top schools. She’ll have fun. And, I know that Peter and I will be good, too.
Tre år. Det var då det!!
Actually, yesterday Karolina got the acceptance e-mail from George Mason. SHE is welcome to the drama school! ALL cleared for a BFA in acting! It feels good, no matter what!! Thankful!!
Anyhooo, over and out from Reston. This is the kind of post that I write on a rainy day with a cup of coffee next to me.
Have a good one, my dears!!
