Good morning Tuesday!
Mid November …
The glorious fall colors have now given way to the more muted winter palette. They gray and brown color scheme has now entered our world. If we do not get any snow this winter this is how it will will look until late March …
AND, to top it all off, the meteorologist I am following has INDEED predicted a mild and “green” winter. Can you spell B-O-R-I-N-G. However, we’ll see, right? I, for one, do not understand how they can predict an entire winter SO FAR in advance.
BUT, they say we’re in for an El Nina winter, so ...
Karolina has always said that she dislikes the colors of the Mid-Atlantic winters so much.
Its grayness and its dullness. BUT, after almost two years in La-La Land she now admits that she misses it. TO an extent, of course.
She misses the gray skies, she misses the rain, she misses the gloominess (at least she does every once in a while).
It is funny how fast the glorious fall colors have turned into dullness.
It went so quick, almost from one day to the next.
But, there is something comforting in this array of muted hues as well.
It really is.
And, yesterday I could hang outside my house drinking coffee after my morning walk. I do appreciate the little micro-climate of my sunny, little front yard.
And this tree is almost green still ... It is really interesting how differently the leaves turn ...
Christmas is coming on strong here in my house.
I am working on setting it up every day. It feels both good, and strange. In many ways it feels like I am doing this way too early. On the other hand, it is thanksgiving next Thursday …
Well, on ANY given regular year I would have started decorating after Thanksgiving. But this is not any given year, this is the year of the VIRUS.
Who’d have thought this a year ago?
So all bets are off and you can do whatever heck you want …
Peter and I took a trip to IKEA Saturday. I bought a mountain of candles, mostly tapers (kronljus). But I also got this little cute Santa candle holder.
Other than that, I did not get any Christmas stuff at IKEA. The restaurant is not open at IKEA yet. Because … c-19 …
So Peter and I did our thing and rushed out as soon as we were done. The food shop was a true disappointment. But, that is the way it has been for a long time now. Many years ago IKEA had a great Swede Shop, they used to sell brand name foods, candy and drinks. Not anymore. Now it is only IKEA's own brand name, NOT the same AT ALL.
Luckily we have other shops here where we can find some of our favorite Swedish foods … And, one can always order food online as well.
THIS candle holder IS adorable!!
BUT, people, now I am going to continue turning my house into a Christmas cottage.
Today my skinny-christmas-kitchen-tree will be decorated, the same goes for another little tree in the hall way.
I am getting there. SLOWLY, but OOOO so surely.
Have a good Tuesday!!
