The best news we got over the weekend was:
The golf course is sitting pretty. For now, at least. For the foreseeable future, I might add.
Still, it is a VERY good thing for us Restonians.
Lovely news. Open space is saved. Nature conquered this time. There is hope for humanity.
IF they had decided to develop the golf course with condos, townhomes and single family homes + stores it would have been the beginning of something irreversible.
Nothing would have been sacred. The next thing would have been start developing the woods, the nature center, the other (private) golf course in Reston. And heck, maybe even fill the lakes with concrete and pave over them? One never knows.
All is valuable land, valuable real estate. Really.
I get it. I do.
But, I am so happy that we get to keep our golf course. Rescue Reston (a movement started by concerned people living in Reston) won!!
The people won.
There is still hope!
I will still have the view of this lovely piece of nature from the back of my humble little house. I will still hear foxes scream in the middle of the night, I will still hear THAT invisible (to me) owl hoot in the evenings (please owl, show yourself to me, pretty please).
I will see birds fly in and out of trees, see deer graze (no, I am not much of a fan of deer. We have too many of them, but still).
When I sit on my deck on a summer night, it will only be the golf course I will look out on.
I am also happy for all the people that the golf course employs year around.
All the friendly ground keepers that keep the course so beautiful and lovely all thru the year. They are always so friendly and nice when we cross paths during my morning walks.
I am glad golfers still have access to a public golf course to play on here in Reston. I am so very, very happy that nature won over “the man”.
For now, I should say. Nothings is forever certain.
Way to go, anyway!!
I appreciate this golf course every day, all seasons, 24/7
The view from the balcony in my bedroom right now...and from my deck, and from my lower patio. I love this so much!!
Winter view. Pic taken from the balcony in my bedroom.
I treasure snow days like this. Then it is me, the course and my Canon.
My lower patio.
On the golf course on a bitter cold winter day in February.
The main deck, on the main level in the end of April this year.
Spring night view from the deck.
This is right outside my house. This is where I access the course.
Fall on the lower patio.
Spring evening on my lower patio.
Have a good Tuesday, people!!!
