I cannot believe that this year’s vacation is almost upon me. Like every other year, this year has been flying.
I don’t get it.
It is time to start heading northeast soon for the summer.
This year, we will be going down to the OBX in North Carolina before we’re heading to Sweden and Finland.
It will be a bit stressful because we’re leaving the OBX on a Wednesday and we’re leaving for Sweden the following day.
I better be prepared and packed before we’re going to the beach.
Peter is going to Sweden with us as well this year. He will be staying for about two weeks.
It will be nice to have some company on the plane, and nice for Peter to spend a longer stretch of time in Stockholm.
Peter seems to think that he is more organized than I am, so therefore he does not think it will be a problem to have less than 24 hours between the trips. I hope you’re right, dear Hubby!
Anyway, the OBX is such a great place in this world, and Peter, Karolina and I felt that we wanted to get some beach time in before the summer starts.
This will be fun for Karolina as well since her best friend will go with us to the beach. It is also kind of sad since her best friend is moving to Vienna, Austria in August. But, I am glad that Karolina and Y can spend some good quality time together in the OBX.
Peter’s family will be there as well, and it will be fun to spend some days together before we’re taking off.
You all know (if you are readers of this blog) that I am totally crazy about the Outer Banks. What I appreciate with the OBX is that they are not commercialized (IF you avoid Nag’s Head and that area). You are renting a house. There are no big hotels, no resorts, no crowded beach bars etc. The beach outside “your house” pretty much “belongs” to you. You don’t have to sit back to back with people you don’t know.
You will not see little beach cabanas there, or row upon row with umbrellas. I like the way of life in the OBX.
Furthermore, you have two grocery stores to pick from, a Food Lion and a Harries Teeter. There are some bars and restaurants you can visit, but the best thing with the OBX is that it is just you and the ocean, the sand and the nature.
All right, there are a lot of big private beach houses there, but that fact does not bother me.
I am really starting to look forward to some good down time at the beach now.
But first I have a little trip to NYC (this weekend), and then Memorial Day and then my girl turns 15! This time of the year tends to get super busy!
Have a great Tuesday, and I hope the weather is holding up where you live. Here on the east coast, it is supposed to rain almost ALL week long…
I so hope the weather men and women are wrong about this!!!
