My blogging friend Saltis and her family came down to live the suburban life with us for the weekend. They are otherwise living on the island Manhattan.
We had so much fun, and again I just have to praise the whole blog phenomena. It is fantastic what bonds I have with so many women over the world.
Again, I am so glad that I decided to start blogging. Blogging has made my life so much richer.
Anyway, you'll find "part one" of the weekend in the post below.
Saturday morning we took both our cars to the Metro stop at West Falls Church. In three (short?) years we will have Metro here in Reston as well. They are building it as I write this. I cannot WAIT!!!
So, anyway, we took the Metro in to DC, and to the Metro stop Smithsonian right on the national mall.
We visited the National Air and Space Museum.
The police were out on their bicycles this morning...
Lunchtime...yes, very healthy as you can see...
Karolina and Ella participated in a electronic game. Ella really liked it, and Karolina got good scores.
After the visit at the museum we ventured out on the mall again.
The weather was simply perfect. SO nice, and not at all humid.
After a while we walked down to the Korean War Memorial. I had never seen this memorial before, and I thought it was powerful and so beautiful. Saltis and M did actually see it last time they were in DC three years ago.
After the visit to that Korean War memorial we walked just across the mall to The Vietnam Memorial. In my opinion The Vietnam Memorial is the most powerful of all powerful monuments around the mall. The atmopsphere there is almost church like...
The White House...
We went back to Reston again, to relax and to have dinner on our deck!
On Sunday morning we took the cars into Georgetown.
Peter and I wanted to take our guests to brunch at Paper Moon.
WE had a good meal there, and then we walked down to the water front.
Yes, and before we left Georgetown we all walked up to the campus of Georgetown University.
It is so beautiful there.
And, then they left...
Back home to Manhattan. Guys, you are welcome back anytime you want.
It's been a pleasure!!
