I am beat for some reason. I wonder if the past week has taken a toll on me?
It doesn't really help that the weather is so gray and cold either...
Oh well, I guess it might help to write a little bit more about our cruising experience!
Please, do come along!!
Day 4, Curacao...
It is not very far to go between the islands of Aruba and Curacao. The boat took it MORE than easy. It felt like it stood completly still several times while we were en route to Curacao. I guess that is in typical cruise ship fashion; take it REAL slow. Good thing the sea wasn't choppy or something...
Anyway, we slept like logs all night long. It was not hard to sleep after our jammed packed day in Aruba.
We had read a lot about Willemstad in Curacao before arriving. Willemstad is on Unescos World Heritage List. The town is very beautiful and quaint, and it almost looks fake, it is not fake, of course!! It just looks SO put together!
Curacao was also very hilly, and a heck of a lot bigger than I thought it would be...
Willemstad as seen from deck 12, and Karolina is hanging out in town...
Ww went down to deck 1 and disembarked the ship. The weather was HOT, and Karolina started to talk about going to a beach as soon as we set foot on the island. But, we took a short walk into Willemstad, as planned.
Willemstad has a truly European feel to it! AND, we could tell that there were so many European tourist there, mostly from the Netherlands and that was not surprising. We had a good time as we strolled around town, but yes, we did get VERY hot!!!
We did not visit any stores in town. We had a soda down by the channel and Peter and I started to think that we indeed needed a beach!!! So we went back to the ship after about two hours.
This bridge, Queen Emma bridge, was very interesting. it is a draw bridge so every time a big ship had to pass thru the channel the bridge was drawn. Fun to see!!!
We jumped into our bathings suits and headed to Kontiki/Sea Aquarium Beach. AND, we were so pleased with that beach!! It was wonderful there!
We snorkeled in the CALM water and we enjoyed cheeseburgers on the beach. The beach chairs were simply divine! A truly great day at a truly great beach!!
Curacao is of course famous for it's liquor. BUT, it is also famous for it's beer, the Amstel Bright. You can only get that beer in Curacao, so we did!! It was good, light and tasted sort of like a Corona.
We headed back to the boat again and got ready for the sail-away party out on the deck!
We left Curacao at 4:30 PM and it was fun to stand on deck 12 and cheer on all the late comers as they run up to the ship! I don't think we left anybody behind, but we were indeed late leaving the port.
Leaving Curacao, and the blogger herself is truly enjoying the day! AS you all can see!
In the evening we went to dinner at Portofino's. Portofino's is by far the nicest restaurant onboard! We had an amazing meal there! And the service was excellent!
More to come tomorrow (in Swedish though, but with loads of pics) about the day at sea and St. Martin/Maarten.
Have a good evening!!
