Are you a fan of ”Sex and the City”? Is “SatC” almost like a religion to you? Can you quote parts of the show? Have you seen the same episodes over and over and over again? Are you a proud owner to the “SatC” dvd-box? Can you just grab a dvd randomly and watch a random episode and just LOVE every second of it?
IF you answered yes to above questions you are just like me! You are a die hard “SatC” fan.
What makes “SatC” so special? What do you think?
Why are we so drawn to it?
I think part of it is the fact that it is a kick-ass women show, with all “forbidden” subjects right out there.
Part of it is, of course, the fashion and the designers, the biggest part of it is the ladies, naturally. All are great looking women in their mid-30’s to mid-40’s. The women in the show are NO push overs what-so-ever, none of them! They are strong, smart, witty and funny, never a dull moment. And, they just happen to live in the coolest city on earth: New York City. We, the viewers, can follow them right along up and down the island of Manhattan, and we can sit in our couches and envy them all we want. OR, feel bad for them as well, because everything is just not fun and games in the show either. The ladies deal with their own hard ships like infertility, bankruptcy and cancer.
When the last episode was broadcasted on HBO back in 2004, it was Feb. 22, 2004 to be exact, I was in tears. It felt like I was at loss a bit, what would I be watching now? WHY did it have to end? Then the rumors started going around; have you heard that they will make a movie?
And then the decline; No, SJP and Kim Catrall do not get along, the movie deal is OFF.
Ah, and then the good news again: A movie is indeed in the making!
In the spring of 2004, my good friend Monika and I went to NYC for a girls-only weekend! We had so much fun, strolling the streets, shopping, eating good food, drinking plenty of good drinks and wine…BUT our favorite part of the trip was when we took the SatC tour!!! The tour lasted three hours, and it took us to the Jimmy Cho store, to Aidans and Steve’s bar where we all had Cosmo’s, to all the girls houses, including Carrie’s of course!!! We went to the park in the village where Miranda and Carrie enjoyed their cup-cakes, remember? And we all got cup-cakes as well. It was so much fun on the actual bus as well because EVERY SINGLE PERSON on that bus was a DIE hard fan! The trivia questions were asked by the guide and we eagerly answered them.
The day the SatC movie premiers’ (May, 30 2008 here in the US) women everywhere will fill the movie theaters, it will be sold out and packed everywhere. I will be one of the eager movie goers that day, be sure of it! I cannot wait!
One can not help but wonder about the movie…I think we all fear that it will be nothing compared to the series, and we might be right (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!).
We’ve already seen so many pictures from the movie shooting up in NYC; we’ve seen SJP in a wedding gown next to Mr. Big. We’ve seen Charlotte pregnant, we’ve seen Smith…
BUT, isn’t that the way we just want it to end? All fun, all good, like the fairy tale it is? A fairy tale for us grown women…At least I want it to end that way.
Who is your favorite among the four ladies? Who do you identify most with?
What is your favorite episode?
So girls and guys (if any men are reading this post, that is) let’s unite, let’s pour a perfect cosmo! Let us all dress up like crazy, let’s have a SatC marathon! Let us enjoy! Let us enjoy our favorite fairy tale!
Right now Blogger is experiencing some photo problems, so I'll just have wait with the pics.for a bit.
