Good morning Tuesday!
I hope you guys had a good weekend.
Peter and I took a hike on Sunday!
The weather was splendid, and made for the first hike of the season.
We went to a state park nearby, Sky Meadows in Paris, Virginia. It is so incredible pretty out there. I am a bit in love with that state park.
The great thing with said park is that it harbors so many hiking trails. All of them lead up to the mountains, so you’ll have your share of climbing once you’re there.
Sky Meadows state park in Paris, Virginia. Right in the schmack middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As you all can see, the day was crystal clear.
Peter is checking out the trail system.
It was our first real hike of the season, and I have to admit that it was pretty hard while ascending up the hills. Yes. I got winded at times. Huffing and puffing!
But, once we got into the groove we got into the groove.
And, we're off!
That is right, the colors of nature are still very winter like. But, give this (like) three more weeks and it will look a bit different, more springy. So one can say, winter still rules here in Northern Virginia.
The weather was just perfect for a hike. it was around 60 F (15C) and abundant sunshine. SO, needless to say, we did enjoy this hike.
I just cannot wait to get out there again. To start the hiking season for real.
Looking out over the valley as we are climbing.
Trails, trails everywhere.
And, at one point we got lost! Out of the trail system. Totally out in the bush with fallen trees and all ... HAHA, we navigated our way back to the trail quickly.
The weather is cold, still, for the season. Very cold.
Everything is delayed in nature. I have no idea when the cherry blossoms are expected to bloom, maybe in 10 days?
Today and tomorrow we might get some snow. Yup, yup, true story.
In my opinion, it is way too late for snow now. WAY too late. Please stay away, snow.
Back on track!! Just look at this barren winter forest.
On top of the hill, now we are heading down to the valley again.
And, I wish you a very good Tuesday!
