Yes, Åke's little brother Rune seems to be a fierce one!
Today, at noon, he'll start to dump snow on us. Yes, again! We're about to get MORE snow!
This is huge for DC. We have hardly recoverd from the epic storm that hit us on Friday! That is the storm that I am calling Åke.
Åke left town around 17:00 on Saturday night.
And now, Rune is entering...
Well, I don't have to explain it more since you have the evidence of all my pics in the posts below this one.
We live in Narnia. It is so painfully beautiful and serene. I love it. Yes, I really do!
It reminds me of being in the Swedish mountains in March or April. Just the same kind of warmth and the same kind of light.
Or, it is like being in the alps in the spring. It feels great!
You do need sunglasses when you are out there because it is SO bright!!
All right, Fairfax County Public Schools are closed today and tomorrow. BUT, I think they'll be closed for the rest of the week.
As I said; we have not recovered from Åke, and now we have his little brother anxiously waiting to do his thing as well...
This is the sidewalk leading to the school. AS you can see they are nowhere to be found. AS you can also see there is nowhere the kids can walk, except on a (now narrow) street.
The streets are almost a joke around here. It is so hard to drive. Peter, Karolina and I went to Safeway last night and it was hard even for us driving in our 4-wheel SUV.
No sidewalks are cleared.
Safeway, our nearest grocery store, was a joke last night. Packed with people, and so bare. Hardly no bread, no milk, they were also out of the veggies I wanted.
But, we did stack up again on things we were out of.
All right, here are some pics from yesterday!
I might update later on today again.
Washington DC sure as hell did get winter this year! More snow than I have ever seen here in the past.
As you can see the front of the school, where the school buses drop off the kids is clear, but someone has to dig out the school buses, too.
But on this side of the school nothing is cleared, and this is where all the "kiss and ride" kids get dropped off. Karolina is one of them. This is also where a lot of walkers enter.
The golfcourse seen from the balcony off our bedroom, and underneath is our (now famous) deck seen from the balcony.
