It is Tuesday again.
I hope you all had a good weekend.
It’s been raining and raining. Yes, pretty much ALL weekend long.
It has been mild as well. How does 64 F (18C) sound?
Well, that is the temperature we had here on Sunday. GROSS, people, just gross. NOT nice at all.
Now it is colder again, but on Thursday it is said to be around that temp again. I get so tired. And, with that comes rain …
Well, we do need the rain. For sure. It is very, very dry here. However, I wish it could snow instead. I have come to the conclusion that this will be another snow free winter. A cold one, for the most part, but without any snow.
Sure, it could still happen, but it does not look promising.
Yup, this pic pretty much sums up the weekend.
Peter and I decided to hike up to our nearest grocery store, Safeway, on Saturday (before the rain started).
So, we did. We grabbed our backpacks and out we went.
We took the long way there, about 5 kilometers. It felt good even though nature was soooo gray and gloomy.
Before we started grocery shopping we had breakfast at Starbucks.
On our way to Safeway.
The colors of the winter. You're looking at them, fifty shades of gray, brown and beige ...
On the way home again we got caught in the rain, but we did ALSO see a BALD EAGLE high up in a tree top. SO amazing!!
He--or she--was sitting there all quiet, just looking out over the lakes (and the street and the shopping center in the distance). I was so taken by it. I would have loved to see it fly and spread its wings!
Now I know where it lives! We did see the nests high up in the tree tops. He--or--she has built the nest right above the play ground of a Montessori school. It can get noisy!! But I am so happy that we have a bald eagle here.
There are plenty of owls around the lakes, too. BUT, I have YET to see one. I am waiting for that day!
Oh, I really hope I will see this majestic bird again when I have my Canon in tow.
Walking before the rain started ...
And, the Olympics have started. I have watched some of it. NO, I did not see Charlotte Kalla win her gold medal. I was sleeping then, as said race took place in the middle of the night. All the cross country skiing events take place in the middle of our nights.
I did see her win, though, later on. BUT by then I already knew the results, so …
Good for her!
And, good with the silver yesterday as well! Nice!!
Come on now, Sweden! Win some more!!
And sure enough, during the opening ceremony on Friday night NBC did BREAK for a commercial right when Sweden walked into the arena.
I am so jaded these days (after seeing many Olympic opening ceremonies in this fashion) that I was just sighing and rolling my eyes.
This does no longer surprise me one bit.
We did see an excellent movie over the weekend!!
Do you guys remember that scandal? Right before the Olympics in Norway 1994 Tonya Harding’s body guard made sure Tonya’s worst competitor on the ice, Nancy Kerrigan, got her knee smashed. The rest is history. It was such a big scandal when it happened. The movie is the story of Tonya Hardings life, and oh boy what a story. What a terrible upbringing and youth that lady had. I have a whole different picture of her now.
This movie is AWESOME, so good! SO interesting!! Funny, too! DARK! See it!! I give it four and half stars!!
Margot Robbie is so good as Tonya Harding and her mom is played brilliantly by Allison Jayne. If you want to see what a creepy mother is like, Tonya’s mom will show you!! And Tonya will show you a messed up childhood and youth …
OH BOY, you’re in for a rough ride …
I wish you all a good Tuesday!!
