I hope all is good with you this Tuesday!
Is it still summer where you are?
I can assure you that it is still summer here. And, it will be summer for at least another month.
Well, I am ready for fall now.
Something that I am totally happy about is our new Silver Line.
The Silver Line is Metro’s latest addition here in the metropolitan Washington DC area!
True, we finally got our subway station here in Reston. And, we can now take the train all the way in to DC, and beyond, to Maryland.
What is NOT to love!
I live within walking distance (about 20 minutes) from the station. I do appreciate it. I can also take my car and park it in the garage next to said station.
For now Reston-Wiehle Avenue is the end station of the Silver Line (good for us). But, in four years the line will be extended to Dulles Airport (ten minutes from my house by car).
If I want to, I can take the metro to Tyson’s Corner. The biggest shopping mall in the DC-area is located there (McLean, VA). However, I think I’ll take my car when I go to Tysons.
We can also take the new metro line to Arlington, VA. Arlington has a ton of restaurants, bars and nice hang-outs.
When I lived in Stockholm, I always lived close to the subway. The subway in Stockholm is awesome. So easy, and so convenient. I am really happy that I am finally living next to a subway line again.
Recently hubby and I took a trip in to The Smithsonian (The National Mall) in DC. It is SOOOO nice to not HAVE to drive downtown!
And, it is great that we do not have to worry about traffic and parking.
I do have some pics.
The metro stop on my side of the Dulles Toll Road.
On the train. It is an old car. Check out the carpets! Yes, wall to wall carpeting in the metro cars here. HAHA!!
Me and hubby-hubster onboard the train.
Here is a certain house YOU ALL know!!!
There are always demonstrators outside The White House. All the time. All seasons.
And always a lot of tourists outside of this very famous building.
The White House, yes.
The Executive Building. This is where the Vice President has his office.
Check out the chopper in the garden of The White House. Obama himself on his way in, or out. We were not allowed to be close to The White House at this point. Lots of security when I shot this pic. BUT, I have a good zoom on my camera.
Secrets Service staff everywhere.
Outside the Washington Monument.
The US-capitol, and parts of The National Mall.
The National Archives.
Crape Myrtles are blooming everywhere now!
Now a PW for me! ONE of these days I'll take the metro downtown for a PW! That is going to be nice!
In the meantime, I wish you all a very pleasant Tuesday
