Yes, that is right.
By then her freshman-year at Elon is over!
I just cannot believe how fast this year has gone by.
Leaving Reston mid-August last year. Bye, bye. The car is stocked with "Karolina-stuff", and for the parents--us---it was rough!! It was rough for the young student as well in the beginning.
Elon on a HOT, HOT, HOT (almost 40C and HUMID) afternoon.
Move-in-day! Early in the morning. Karolina with all her belongings on a side walk on Elon campus. Ready to move it. I so hope it'll be less hot and humid when we move her out in a month (I think it will be decent weather. It should not be too hot).
SO, so very organized!!
Also, I am surprised how well Peter and I have adjusted to our lives as empty nesters.
Well, it is easy to understand why that transition went smooth.
It is, of course, due to Karolina’s love for Elon. Karolina is having such a great time at university, she likes her classes and she is so enjoying all her friends, and her activities at Elon.
So, yes, Peter and I settled in pretty good here at home.
Three more years left at Elon after this school year is over with.
I have a feeling that time will fly. Fast.
It always does.
It will be good to pick her up in the end of May, and good to have her home for the summer.
A lurking storm in the August sky!
In the morning!
Back again in November. Elon stunning in the fall!!!
Next school year Karolina will share an apartment on campus together with three other girls (no, not girls from the drama-department. Other friends).
They seem to have gotten their hands on a very sweet place. Right in the schmack middle of Elon campus They will move in to a four bedroom apartment with a kitchen, big livingroom, washer/dryer and two big bathrooms. Each of the girls will have their own bedroom, and they will share the two bathrooms.
Yes, they will also cook.
This true room-mate living will be a first for all of them.
Karolina is close with all these girls, they are all really good friends. So, for the remaining three years they will all pick the room-mates they (the students) want to live with.
Elon in the late fall.
Karolina's BFA-class, the actors. All 12 of them!
Mist over Elon!
It will be fun to go down to Elon this upcoming fall and see how the girls are adjusting to apartment living.
There are beds and desks and a dining room table and chairs in the apartment. And, I believe there are kitchen wares in there as well (I hope so).
Hot chocolate in the winter time at The Oak House on campus. SO very very cozy!
My freshman girl!
It is simply amazing how fast time flies.
And, it is amazing how very well most of us adjust to new situations in life. We may not think that we will, but we sure do.
Have a good Tuesday. I will go out and photograph ALL the beautiful trees and flowers that are now surrounding us: dogwoods, eastern redbuds, kwanza cherry blossoms, crab apples…the list goes on and on…
And, lastly, Elon in the spring! In the end of March! So lovely. We'll return to Elon in about a month again!!
