Recently Matilda had a fun blog post on her blog: houses! I thought that I would do the same and show you all some houses along my daily walk.
So, why don't you come with me? The pics are taken with my small, compact Sony. I did not feel like schlepping the big one along for this. Click on the images to enlarge.

One of the buildings I pass along my walk is the local middle school. This is where the students start at 7:30 in the morning. And, yes, this is where Karolina will start 7:th grade next year. Doesn't look like the most fun school in universe, does it? But I am not worried, I have heard pretty good things about it, and I am sure we will all be ready next year.

This is a cape-cod colonial that I really like. I like the neigborhood a lot. These houses are made out of wood. In a way I would love to live in a house like this, but they are a bit on the small side. When Peter and I finally will buy a single family home we want a garage, and a formal dining room. These houses lack both, we know, we've been to plenty of open houses in this pretty, pretty neighborhood.

And this red and white house is found in the same neighborhood. We call it "the Swedish neigborhood" because of all the different colors of the houses. I think the whole neighborhood has an Astrid lindgren feel to it.

Townhomes along the lake. Many of them have their own, privare floating veranda! Nice! On hot summer days you can see these floating verandas all over the lake. Must be nice to own one, and just hang out there, maybe grill a little something and then just relax with a drink in your hand.

Apartments (or condos) along the lake as well.

The same apartments (condos) seen from the front.

Townhomes and their gardens on the way back home again.
You should see these gardens IRL, so beautiful and so serene. This is one of my favorite spots along the walk.

Not a house (duh!) but our nearest pool. This pool will close this weekend. All the other pools in Reston closed after Labor Day, but this one is heated and therefore it stays open longer.

A contemporary house along the route. Reston has a lot of contemporary houses, in a way they are nice, in another way they are so out-dated.

A nice colonial.

A brick conlonial on my favorite street. This one is going up for sale. See what we'll do about that one :-))

One of my favorite houses! I don't know if you can see how cute it is, it also backs up to the golf course. This is the house that I want! If the people ever move out of there. It doesn't look like it will become a reality anytime soon.

A split-level colonial.

And this will be the last house you'll see today!
I love to look at houses and their different styles. I'll promise to take loads of pictures from downtown DC and from Old Town Alexandria and Georgetown next time we'll go!
Now, it is time for me to go out on my walk again. You know every day, in every weather (or almost). I am getting more and more convinced that I will indeed start nordic walking, that is walking with poles. Nordic Walking is huge in Scandinavia, so if you see a weirdo in Reston walking fast with a pair of poles in her hands it is just Yours Truly that is out and about on her power walk.
Have a good Tuesday!
Update: Guess what! Today while walking I saw an older lady walking with poles!!! Amazing! I will not be the first one in Reston once I get my poles. The lady used the wrong technique, but still!!! I am amazed, and happy about it! I also so envy Jacal and Veronika out in California that are now starting Nordic Walking together, you girls are lucky! Wish I could join you!!!

Poles make you walk faster in a way, you burn more calories and you get to use your arms as well. My mom and my s-i-l are huge fans of Nordic walking, and many along them.
And GUESS what!! Today on my walk I saw an older lady using poles...Absolutly not using the right technic, but still!! It takes practising!
Keith:
Yes, we are in no hurry getting out of here. The times are not right to sell now.
Hela omrÄdet andas Astrid Lindgren stÀmning! Sà à à mysigt!!! Husen Àr bÄde blÄa, röda, gröna och blÄ och sÄ grÄa.
Veronika:
Jo, det Àr olika modeller av hus i USA, that is for sure!!
Dom byggs oftast i colonial stil.
Kram Lia
Visst Àr det röd-vita huset myysigt!! Har faktiskt varit inne i just det pÄ visning. SÄ sött, men lite för smÄtt...
Tycker ocksÄ att det kÀnns vÀldigt nordiskt.
Eva:
Men, jag tycker husen ofta Àr mkt vackra i the US, helt klart.
Kram!
