It’s been a while since we took a look at the surroundings near my house here in Reston.
Today, I will take you with me on my morning walk.
I thought it could be kind of nice to show you all how far the fall has progressed here in my little nook of the world.
Yesterday, it was fairly cool and breezy.
As a matter of fact, I wore my jacket for the very first time this season.
So, I guess it really IS fall now.
Of course it is fall, we are almost half way into October.
A lot of the people I met while out wore jackets, hats and even mittens.
No, I do not mind the cooler mornings AT all. I like them. I like them a lot!
This is the way fall is supposed to be.
Cool, sunny and crisp.
Sure, we will get warm weather again, I can see on my weather app that we will get temperatures of 23 C (73F) soon.
The nights are cooler now as well, of course
And my house, my house is SO cold. I was freezing inside all day yesterday, brrr ...
I am telling you, I am a heartbeat away from turning on the heat in the house. I am trying to be good, and wait, but I hate to freeze in my own home.
Well, people, come along with me on my walk!
Place: The Lake Thoreau loop here in south Reston.
Temp: 9C or 49F
Weather conditions: Sunny and breezy
In about two weeks (or so) I’ll take you on a morning walk again. And by then I can promise you nature will look different. Less summery, and more like fall.
Have a nice Tuesday!!
Right outside my house. This is where I start my walk ...
You can tell Halloween is right around the corner.
These beautiful bushes/trees are so showy during the fall. They are called Scarlet firethorn (in Swedish eldtorn)
I walk straight into the sun, or so it feels.
The leaves are slowly turning.
More Halloween stuff.
It was COLD here!
South Lakes High School art on the lake. Love it. However the bird on top of it? I think it is a Cormorant. Those birds are not nice if you get them in flocks. They can destroy nature in no time. Some of my Swedish readers have probably seen the three bare islands (skarvöarna) in the archipelago of Stockholm where cormorants have taken over. THAT is not a fun sight, quite scary. Cormorant is SKARV, in Swedish. I would have zero problems getting rid of these birds, that is how cruel I am.
Yup, I am sure ... It is a Cormorant.
Some summer Daisies by the lake.
IN a couple of weeks all the trees will be yellow and orange.
A common site in Reston. This is Clinton land. I have not seen a single T*rum*p sign yet here. Thank God for that!!
And, even more!
The golf course!
A street near my home.
Roses in my garden!
