Yesterday was one of those days …
It was raining outside, so grey and gloomy.*
No PW for me in the morning.
Nothing to “write home about”, so to speak.
One thing I did do was grocery shopping.
OH, that dreaded task that one has to do every week.
Boring, but a MUST!
So, even though a whole lot of you have been to an American grocery store you will now come with me. We are going to the grocery store. One of the dullest things I know in the world,
I went to Harris Teeter here in Reston.
I alternate between Safeway and HT most weeks.
Sometimes I go to Whole Foods, but that is more on occasion, really.
Trader Joe’s every once in a while.
Costco? like twice a year…
The best store we have is probably Wegman’s, but we do not have one of those in Reston. And, I really don't feel like trekking out, like 10 miles, in order to get every day groceries, no thanks.
No, I want to shop as close to home as possible. Safeway is my closest store, and I really like it. But, every other week I go to Harris Teeter, just because.
And, sure, you guys are so welcome to take a little tour thru my iPhone lens.
IT is so embarrassing to take photos in a grocery store. One has to pretend that one is taking selfies, haha.
God, what a sight for sore eyes, haha!!!
* Well, I stand corrected regarding the weather, during the afternoon yesterday it was lovely outside.
The sun came out to play, it got to be around 20C, or 70F. I sat on the deck with a cup of tea and just enjoyed it all.
AAAHHHHH, so very nice.
Tuesday, today in other words, it is supposed to get rainy again. Fine, I don't care. For reals!!
Have a great Tuesday wherever you are, come rain, come shine!
Yupsters, here is Your Truly on her way to the store. Dressed in typical Annika-fashion. Nothing more, nothing less. Guys, check out my grocery bag, Moomin! I bought that bag (and another one) last summer in K-hallen in Närpes, my favorite grocery store in Närpes really. And, you bet you, the iPhone case is Moomin as well. Me? A Moomin freak? Oh yes, for certain!
True story, here's the dreaded place...
The glory of shopping at 9:15 on a Monday morning! Hardly no people in the store. Me likey, me likey a lot!
Oh, how I love that you can buy wine and beer in a regular grocery store. However, I did not buy a single bottle of anything along those lines yesterday. You cannot buy hard liquor in the store, though. For that you have to pay a visit to the ABC-store (Alcoholic Beverage Control).
Wine for days!
Classic cheese for Swedes, like me (yea, yea, I know it is Norwegian, but you guys get me). Jarlsberg. I always have Jarlsberg in my fridge.
Yes, in the middle of Harris Teeter you can sit down for a lunch, a cup of coffee and what not. You can even have wine here, if you fancy a glass.
Mayo for miles.
It is time to buy some steaks, for later in the week. When I was picking up my meats a singing voice came over the PA-system, an employee who sang a song welcoming the shoppers to the store. So funny! I have heard that guy sing before, he works behind the seafood counter, and sometimes he sings behind said counter as well. He has a beautiful voice!
Cereals forever and ever...
The grocery cart looks like fun. Or not ...
Sure, you gotta have to pay as well ...
Four days worth of groceries for two people. Yep, I think it is expensive. Very much SO.
Time to drive home. The boring, weekly task is over. For this time. But, once one gets home one has to unpack and store it all away. THAT is also super dull...
Grey, cold Monday on Reston Parkway heading home...
