Good morning Tuesday!
Isn’t it strange that Christmas is right around the corner?
Isn’t it lovely this time of the year?
The best time is right NOW!
Now, when we are still waiting for THE WHOLE thing to begin. These are my favorite days of the year.
When Christmas rolls around everything goes way too fast.
It is a whirlwind, and before you know it it’s all over.
I do love the days between Christmas and New Year’s, too. The day we call Mellandagarna in Sweden, The In Between Days. Those days are ALSO among my favorite days of the year.
Everything is calm. It is still the season. You can enjoy, relax, eat good food, drink good drinks, go on little trips, sleep in…
Well, you all know the drill.
The real good thing when you are married to an american dude is that you get to celebrate Christmas two days in a row.
Peter, Karolina and I really observe Christmas Eve. As you know by now.
Then we do the whole Swedish thing, Swedish Christmas dinner, glögg, we watch a Swedish Christmas tv-show that i really love (Karl-Bertil Jonsson. Peter likes it a lot, too), we open presents (a few of them) in the evening. Maybe we’ll end the day by playing a board game.
Christmas morning rolls around the corner and then the American Christmas starts.
Stockings to open, a good breakfast, more gifts to open, a trip to Peter’s folks. More gifts and then the dinner.
This year it’ll all be a bit different. I am expecting dear, dear visitors. From Sweden. My sister and her fam.
They are looking forward to celebrate a true American Christmas with all the trimmings. That means a full turkey dinner complete with all the sides we love.
I am looking forward to it all.
It is great to be able to mix the Swedish traditions with the American ones. The best!
Christmas feels a bit longer that way.
It will be so exciting to have visitors.
I’d like for them to have the best of times while they are here.
I am glad they are arriving way before Christmas. It gives us all time to settle in before the big days.
And, they get to be here during the best time. The time before Christmas.
Have a lovely Tuesday.
