Oh boy, do I just LOVE this time of the year!
The weather is perfect (around 26 degrees C. Not too hot, not too humid).
The days are sunny and the skies are clear.
It is joy to spend time outdoors!
And, I do!
On a warm summer evening I think an ice-cold Prosecco is the best drink in the world!
I am not a rose wine girl, neither am I a huge fan of white wines.
But, Prosecco hits the spot every time!
This photo is taken on my deck, facing the golf course, in the evening sun. Prosecco and water melon, yum!!
My front yard (my little "täppa") has eastern exposure, and I love to hang out there with my morning coffee! The mornings are often a bit too warm as well, so I usually prefer sitting in the shade.
This little "täppa" is blooming now. I love it!
Here are som pics from yesterday. This is how it looks right now!
I like cute little accents in my front yard (and, on my deck, of course).
My dream garden would be an English cottage garden. I like old fashioned flowers and plants, in an old fashioned style.
I do not live in a cottage. No, I live in a contemporary (kinda ugly looking) town house from 1976. But, I am trying to make the garden look lush and old fashioned. And, yes, cute....
The roses are about to bloom!!
I had to cut my hydrangeas way back during the early spring (due to a mold decease). However, I can tell that the rough winter we just went thru has taken a toll on ALL hydrangeas in the Reston area. I do not see any blooming hydrangeas anywhere. Usually they are blooming in May.
The hard ice-cold winter of 2013-2014 did hurt, and destroy, lots of trees and plants.
I have peonies in my little garden. OH how I love them!! My garden has a south-eastern exposure, and most of my flowers and plants thrive here.
In the middle of the day my little "täppa" gets too hot. If I am weeding, or working out there, I better do it during the early morning hours, or later in the afternoon.
Do you guys remember my Christmas/Halloween bench?
The one I deck out for all the holidays?
Well, during the summer said bench is occupied by plants, and lanterns!
Can you have too many lanterns? I think not!
I am watering my plants during the morning, or during the evening. Sometimes both!
The summers are hot and the heat dries out the potted plants in NO time!
If you come to my street on the golf course in the early morning you are sure to find me RIGHT here, with a cup of joe and the morning paper. I promise invite YOU to have some "fika" with ME!!
During the warm season I get two more "bonus rooms" to enjoy; my front garden and my deck!
I also have a lower deck with a couple of tables. That deck is also facing the golf course. The lower deck lacks coziness, in my opinion. We never use it. BUT, I'll have to give it some TLC!! I promise.
I am good at making "cozy" happen! So I'll deal with the lower deck very soon!
If you're up for it, I can post pics from my deck soon! My upper deck (my absolute favorite outdoor space), that is. Stay tuned!
Now, let us all enjoy our summer!
