Morning from the flooded house by the golf course !
Or, may it be “fixed” by now? Or, I SHOULD SAY, has the renovation started?
Lord, I know, my posts these days are boring. I know that.
But, the water damage weighs heavy on our minds.
What will it take to fix this?
How much does it cost? What will the insurance cover?
Where do we go from here?
Well, all that!
When all this is said and done, I promise to write more fun blog posts.
Let me tell you; I cannot WAIT!!
As of now (Monday mid day) I know that the firm is on its way to help us. The only thing is that I do not know what time they’ll actually show up today.
Hopefully, as you all read this on Tuesday morning, a lot of our problems will have been solved.
Anyway, what else is new?
Winter has gone. What we have now is some kind of gray fog and rain. Yesterday we had a nice, almost spring like day, 12 degrees C.
However, I am sure that winter will return again.
YOU can come back, dear winter!! Welcome back!! BUT do NOT mess with our pipes, you HEAR!!
DO effing NOT mess with them again!
DO NOT mess with our roof EITHER!!! I can see that so many of our neighbors are replacing their roofs now. The Polar Vortex destroyed them, too. WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER POLAR VORTEX!! (however wonderful I thought it was while it lasted)
STAY away from our house. WINTER, be KIND!!!
We are heading to NYC next week.
We’ll be away for 6 days.
Sure, we’ll be nervous the entire time. ESPECIALLY if the weather gets really cold.
I guess we will have to round up some neighbors, or friends, that can check inside--and outside--our house while we are gone. I will forever be a little bit FREAKED out after this episode.
The smell in the house IS horrendous. I think it smells like s**t, to be honest. SO. VERY. GROSS!
How will we be able to get rid of this smell once all is said and done?
It smells like s**t, old bath towels and dirty feet, all at the same time. Lovely? OH YESS...
I usually get praise from friends that my house smells so good. I hear that ALL the time. WILL I ever hear that again?
No, I better end this post now. It is getting too depressing!
They came!! THEY CAME!! Two super nice guys arrived around 17:00 last night. The carpet is GONE!!!
Everything that was affected is out of the house! The walls are damaged, so they will be replaced. At least partly.
Now we have EIGHT industrial fans going 24/7, and two dehumidifiers. They’ll be running for 72 hours to dry out the rec- room. They are, indeed, loud. But it is for our own good, I have to remember that.
Today, the insurance guy is coming. Maybe we can start picking out a new flooring this weekend? Maybe it can be installed before we go to NYC?
One baby-step at the time now. But, at least there is a shimmer of hope...
Make me happy, people!! MAKE ME HAPPY!!!
My ONCE SO cozy basement ain't so cozy anymore...
Some of the fans. I have no pics of the big dehumidifiers. But I'll photograph them, too...
