It is summer. It is hot. It is humid.
Today I will run a little summer me-me here in the blog.
If you feel like it, copy this me-me and make it your own (replace cities, places etc). Let me know, and I’ll come and check it out.
1, Summer again. what is the best thing about your summer?
I guess the best thing about my summer is that it will be so different from previous years. I am actually looking forward to it quite a bit.
The best part is that I have so many different things on my agenda.
2, What is the worst thing about your summer in the DC area?
It is HOT and it is humid. SO damn hot and humid. That is the hardest part. Thank God for AC.
It is also hard that my summer does not really involve Scandinavia this year. However, I’ll go home in the very, very end of August. But by then the summer is almost over in The North.
3, What are you looking forward to the most?
MY week in New York City. I am really, really looking forward to that. AND, to Monika’s and Patrik’s visit in August. FUN!!
4, The best thing to do on a hot summer day?
In my area it is to spend time by one of the local pools with a good book.
5, The best thing to do on a rainy summer day?
Stay inside and read, and to watch streamed Swedish television.
6, The best thing to do on a summer night?
Ah, that is to be outside on the deck. OR, at a an outdoor cafe.
7, What do you prefer? The beach? The mountains? Summer in the city?
Easily the beach. Bring it on. I really hope Peter and I can head to the OBX this summer at some point.
8, Dream place to visit in the US in the summer?
Maine, coastal Maine.
9, Dream place to visit elsewhere in the summer?
France and Italy.
10, How about your favorite summer food?
That would be something off the grill, like a good, perfect steak with a big salad and something very yummy on the side, like the potatoes I made in aluminum foil on the grill the past weekend. YUM!!!
11, Your favorite summer read?
That can be any good book.
12, Favorite summer drink?
Non alcoholic: tea (hot as always!!), water with lemon or ice tea that is NOT too sweet.
Alcoholic: a perfect mojito or a glass of wine. I also drink a Corona, or two, if the weather is really hot.
13, On the miss-list?
All things that I usually do during the summer. MISS! MISS!! MISS!!! But, it will be OK.
14, Favorite summer clothing?
A flowy dress.
15, Favorite hang-out at home?
The Best Deck, or my front yard. OR, to chill on the couch when the AC is going full force (we have a very, very effective central-AC system in our house).
16, Favorite restaurant to visit?
Most outdoor cafes in Reston, Arlington, Old Town and Georgeotown.
17, Do you like gardening?
Yes, I do!! A lot!
18, Would you go skinny dipping?
Here in the US I would not dare to do so. In Scandinavia, sure YES!! In Finland, by our summer house, I go skinny dipping every day ;-.)
There, now you ALL know it!
19, Is it OK to swim in a lake where there are snapping turtles, snakes and huge fish? (I know, this is a very USA geared question).
Well, if your are totally over heated maybe? Otherwise I would say NO! I would not swim in the lakes of Reston. But, people ARE doing so. Karolina does so with her friends. And, sometimes in the mornings I see people that are out swimming. It looks great, but I would not want to swim there.
Maybe it is my loss? I don't know...
20, Do you prefer white nights? Or do you like dark, warm summer nights?
I prefer the white, nordic nights, but I do appreciate the dark, warm nights, too.
They are just so different from one another.
21, What is your favorite summer song?
I am not listing my Swedish summer favorites here. NOT listing them in this post. But, my favorite summer songs in English are:
Dancing in the moonlight (King Harvest)
On the Beach (Chris Rea)
Up on the roof (The Drifters)
In the Summertime (Mungo Jerry)
Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet)
Above songs are just a few of the summer songs I really like.
22, And, the last question, what are your summer plans?
YOU guys know my summer plans; NYC, the beach (hopefully), college tours and then visitors from home.
How about your plans?
Have a good Tuesday! As I said, we have hot and humid weather now. It really is summer.
Have a good Tuesday, you all!!
