Yesterday was Memorial Day.
We were off work and school.
Peter and I took a hike along Algonkian Heritage Trail. The trail is located fairly close to where we live, in the next county (Loudon).
Beautiful day, beautiful trail.
It is SO serene down by this trail, and it feels so remote, even though it is located in true suburbia.
I love it that we have SO much nature around us where we live.
I live in the Nation's Capital, and you would think nature would be sparse. IT is not.
I also love the FACT that we have such easy access to it all. Long live nature!!
As you start walking, you'll pass a few lakes. We saw several turtles, three beautiful herons and we heard bullfrogs. The bullfrogs were as loud as car horns at times...
Dirt path, I love it!
And as you are walking along the lakes you have a creek on your left.
Jasmines, oh the fragrance...
Different dirt paths everywhere.
It is still so light green in nature. It is still late spring. Oh how I love all these trees down by the little lakes.
Peter and I have reached the mighty Potomac River.
And, as you walk back to the car you pass a very suburban neighborhood. The closeness between true nature and the comfort of a very cushy home.
Regular Tuesday today.
I will take my PW in a second.
Hsve a lovely Tuesday!
