No snow to be seen.
And, today the weather will be mild and rainy.
It’ll be cold on Wednesday again, and then mild over the weekend.
WHY can we not get the precipitation in the form of snow?
WHY does it have to rain?
Rain in January IS depressing.
And, why can it not be COLD? For a long stretch of time.
I realize that I should live somewhere where the winters are bitter, like Chicago or Minnesota, Toronto or Boston.
I would thrive.
I swear, I would NOT complain a single day!
When I lived in Sweden I don’t think I was ever complaining about the winter weather. Well, sure, I did complain when the winters were mild (yes, they can be mild in the southern/middle parts of Sweden, too. This year is such a winter).
But I have never, ever complained about cold weather.
As long as you are warm, have power, food, and a warm house everything is A-OK!
January is January after all.
SO is February.
And, so is the beginning of March.
I love living in Northern Virginia. I love it here!
As long as I live in the states, I do NOT want to move.
If I could have one wish it would be: MORE SNOW!!
MORE SNOW in NoVA in the winter time!
But, when it snows here it does get chaotic. People DO freak out! Many have zero idea how to drive in the snow (I am one of them. I took my license in the US). It is not like in Scandinavia where all cars are geared for winter with special winter tires that are mandatory. People know how to manage the snow, how to drive in it.
When you take your license in Sweden you have to drive on ice, panic break and have the car spin. JUST so you’ll know what to do if that was actually happening to you while driving.
Here, it can be total mayhem when it snows.
BUT, the cars are not geared for snow either. ZERO winter tires, for example. And, you all know how hard it is to drive on “summer tires” in snow?!
THAT is what we’re dealing with.
And, the snow plows are very different from the big powerful ones in Scandinavia.
It is not so strange that it gets CRAZY here when it snows, after all. I do realize that.
One of the big blizzards in February 2010. To drive on the main road outside our neighborhood cannot have been easy. It was such a blizzard.
Anyway, no snow to speak of this year.
The question is?
Will we get some?
Have a good winter Tuesday!!
I am off to the gym!
