This Week: Thoughts before Christmas.
Can you believe it is almost time for Christmas?
As always December has flown away way too fast.
But, it is what it is.
Are you done with your gift shopping?
No, I am not. But, I am almost there.
The dearest hubby needs a bit more and the dearest girl might get something more as well.
Anyway, I still have time to shop. I have the pure luxury of managing my own time however I want to. Yes, I do appreciate that so much!
When I was a kid this time of the year was SOOOOO exciting. Well, of course I did not have to do so much those days.
I did not have to clean, I did not have to cook, I did not have to go grocery shopping for Christmas. I was just a happy kid that was peaking on the gifts that my mom and dad had hidden in the house.
THAT was fun, and so forbidden.
My sister and I tried to figure out what was inside the wrapped packages...
One year, I even took a sharp kitchen knife and cut open the scotch tape. I am telling you, I was jittery as hell.
I don’t think Karolina has ever snuck into my closet to see what I have bought for her. I really don’t think so.
Did you guys go thru the gifts (in a sneaky way, without your parents knowledge, of course) before Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning came around?
Nowadays, I don’t want to peak anymore. All that jittery stuff has left my body and soul. I am more calm now at 45, haha!
Nowadays, I am the one carrying Christmas on my shoulders. I am the planner, I am the buyer and I am the fixer.
Sure, Peter really does help me, but since he’s working full time it (Christmas) sort of leans on me.
I don’t mind. I don’t mind because I love the season so MUCH! I am the person in this household that decks out the house. Peter does what he’s been told to do. He’d never, ever complain. But, if it wasn’t for me, Christmas would be much more subdued in this house.
I think, in general, that it is the women that make Christmas happen. The men, usually, don’t care that much even though they love it once it is done, and up. I am truly the boss of Christmas around here. Peter is gladly following along. He shops, and he cleans, and he fixes. But, I am glad that I am the boss, if you know what I mean. I make sure we will get the Christmas we want (I want?).
The women bake, we make candy, we make a lot of the food, we make sure the coziness factor is sky high, we are keeping track of the gifts. The list can go on and on...
Without women---NO Christmas.
Do you agree?
Or do you BEG to differ?
