NO Sweden for us this Christmas. Instead it will be a Reston Christmas.
We decided not to travel to Sweden this holiday season.
Really, think about it!
Christmas Eve is on a SATURDAY!!
There are hardly no extra days around Christmas and New Year’s this year.
Karolina’s Christmas vacation is only a week, and two days.
Way too short.
Next year it looks SO much better!
Christmas Eve on Monday!
And, New Year’s Eve on a Monday.
The following year looks even better.
So, it’s been decided: NO Christmas in Sweden this year.
Yes, it is a bit sad in a way. BUT, on the other hand I love my Christmases in Northern Virginia as well.
You can say that I love them just as much, but in different ways.
I will miss my dear family.
I will miss all the nice get-togethers!
I will miss all the Christmas decorations!
I will miss all the Swedish stuff that I love to buy when I travel to Sweden for Christmas.
I will miss the FOOD!
I will miss the drinks!
I will miss the darkness! (YES. REALLY!!!)
I will miss the snow! IF, you Swedes are getting any snow, that is...
I will miss all the Scandinavian Christmas spirit!
On the other hand, I will have Christmas spirit galore here!
And, I will have a decked out house with TWO Christmas trees (one real. One fake)! AND, with a trillion decorations in between. More is INDEED more!
We do not have to travel, and therefore no stress.
It will be more relaxing on many levels.
We will have a great time with Peter’s family.
Next year, we’ll celebrate Christmas in Sweden.
And, as you know, I am the Queen of Christmas so I can make this house and its garden and deck into a Christmas haven (sure, I am the queen of Halloween, too). Well, I am SO not bragging, those are my only two “royal” duties.
I do hope for snow!
I always do, as you know.
Something like this maybe? Like we had during the blizzards of 2010.
Tonight Pretty Boy on NBC-4 will have his winter forecast for 2011-2012. He’ll (Doug K) be on at 23:00.
Heck, I have no idea how you can predict the weather for three months, but---HEY---I’ll watch what he has to say!
And, the dude BETTER tell us that it will be a bitter COLD winter with several blizzards.
If he says that Yours Truly will be SO happy!
If he says the opposite I’ll be a sour orange...
Speaking of which;
I bought a box of clementines yesterday. I love them so much, but this box was not great. The clementines were all so bitter tasting.
I guess it is still too early in the season for them.
I tell you what, they better get sweeter soon, or else...
Have a good one, people!
We’re having another MILD day here in the DC-area...
Time to take a PW!
