1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Actually, neither. Egg nog is too “eggy” and Hot chocolate is too “milky” , and too sweet. Of all the Christmas drinks, I prefer Glögg! I love it! Gluhwein is good, too, but Glögg is better!
JULMUST is the best softdrink. Julmust is the traditional Christmas soda in Sweden, or Christmas-coke as a little one called it at my Christmas party Saturday night.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Oh, Santa wraps the gifts, all right. Or is it Santa’s little helper? Aka me! No, but the presents under the tree will be wrapped for sure. It would kinda blow otherwise, in my opinion. AND, as a piece of info I can tell you that in Sweden, Santa (jultomten), usually shows up in person on Christmas eve night! The funny thing about it is that one person always seem to be missing from the room once Santa shows up. Hmmmm....how come?
3. Colored lights on the tree/house, or white?
We have white lights in the front of the house. Plenty of them. I think it is so beautiful. In the back of the house we have colored lights, and I love them. In the tree the lights are white.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No, I don’t.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
It takes a while for me to decorate (due to my huge volume of stuff). It takes about a week. I usually start (decorating) the Saturday after Thanksgiving
My traditional Harald Wiberg Christmas miniature plates.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Holiday dishes for me are Swedish! I like the traditional Swedish Christmas table; the herring, the meatballs, the ham. The list goes on and on.
7. Favorite (?) Christmas memory as a child?
I have so many lovely memories from my childhood, and my Christmases in Sweden. So full of traditions all thru December. However, the Christmases we spent at my grandparents in Norrnäs, Närpes, Finland are probably my most precious memories. In my opinion we had the ultimate Christmases there. They were complete; the snow, the country side, the “blue hour” (when the day gives way to the night and the snow looks blue), cutting down our own Christmas tree from our own forest, the fire-places, the ice-roses on the windows every morning. THOSE are memories that will never, ever leave me.
8. Do you open the gifts on Christmas Eve?
Yes, in Sweden (and Finland, and the other Scandinavian countries) Christmas eve is the most important day of Christmas. So, yes, we open some gifts on Christmas eve, but since Peter is American we also open some gifts on Christmas Day. I do, indeed, have the best of two worlds!
9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Traditional! Red, white and silver. NO tinsel.
10. Snow! Love it or dread it?
LOVE IT MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY!!
11. Can you ice skate?

12. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Yes, I was five and got a doll-house from Lundby. I was in seventh heaven. I still remember how happy I got when I un-wrapped it!!!
13. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you?
The coziness factor! The warmth and to be with family.
14. What is your favorite Christmas dessert? I really don’t know. Chocolate maybe? Marzipan?
15. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I have so many favorite traditions around Christmas, I cannot pick one.
16. What tops your tree?
This kitschy angel brights up my livingroom. I love angels, even the kitschier ones.
17. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Both work for me...:-)
18. What is your favorite Christmas song?
*sigh*...There are so many lovely songs this time of the year. But I have true weakness for “Baby it’s cold outside” right now (see my post last Friday). But, who can pick? There are too many good ones.
19. How many Christmas music CD’s do you own?
Who knows? Maybe 15-20, both Swedish and American. However, nowadays I mostly listen to Pandora radio.
