Back to life, back to reality!
I am about to embark on my Power Walks again. My five to six kilometers.
Charge the iPod,
strap the pedometer to the pants.
GO work out!
Do the Wii fit once I am home!
Just do it!
I’ll see the same people as always on my walk;
the old lady with her little dog,
the three ladies that are walking together every morning.
Mr. Black-beard with his dog.
The same PW people that are out at the same time as I am.
Sometimes I even see a neighbor of mine, a neighbor that fails to recognize me. A neighbor who looks at me like we have never, ever met before. Truth to be told; he’s been to my New Year’s Eve Party. But he does NOT remember me.
I don’t know how to take that? Hello!! We live on the same street!! Yohoo!!
Earth to X!!
And, it is SO annoying!
The cold is about to weaken. And, I think it is TOO BAD! Why can it not stay a steady 25 degrees Fahrenheit (about -5 C) for the rest of the winter?
WHY does it have to be around 50 degrees (10 C) on Thursday?
It really depresses me.
Yes, I think it is time for me to move to a colder place. The question is; will Peter come along? No, I don’t think so.
So, I’ll stay put in northern Virginia.
I’ll just have to accept these strange winters.
I’ve just finished a fantastic book, “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett.
It is about domestic help in the south during the early 1960’set during the civil rights movement. When I picked it (the book) up I did not think that I would think much of it (it is a book we’re reading for my book club), but I was WRONG!! I could simply NOT put it down!
It is unbelievable to me that black people were treated like garbage only 45 years ago! I simply cannot wrap my thoughts around that.
It is embarrassing to read about how white people were treating their “help” in the deep south. The book was a true EYE-opener to me! Did you know that as late as in the 1960’s the black maids were often NOT allowed to use their employers’ bathroom? No, many of them had their own toilets out back. Can you believe it? I could not!
OR, that the white employer would never, ever sit down and eat with their black help. THAT is how segregated things were only 45 years ago. Scary! Read the book. I do not think you will regret it!
All right, I am out of here!
Oh, and American Idol starts tonight!
BUT, I can easily live without the tiring auditions. That part lasts forever! For weeks. FOX should REALLY cut back on that, and concentrate more on the people that CAN sing.
I cannot wait until the first audition rounds are over and moved to Hollywood.
Regardless, it’ll be fun!
Have as good one!
