I feel like I’ve been snubbed...
Snubbed by the winter, that is. Where did it go? What happened?
Is spring really around the corner?
It feels like I am still sitting here waiting for the “blizzard of 2008”. I wouldn’t mind having a blizzard before this winter is officially over with.
I think, or I KNOW, that I live in the wrong climate. I would be better off in Canada, or northern USA instead of living in the Mid-Atlantic. The winters here are always “hit or miss”. This year is has definitely been a “miss” year. Hardly any snow to speak of, only nasty ice storms.
I want my fluff, I want my snow, I want the world to be covered in snow, and I want the air to be white with falling snow flakes.
I am a winter girl.
Sure ENOUGH it is nice living in the DC area come spring time. This city is so perfectly beautiful in late March, early April and so on. You all should see it when the hundreds, of hundreds of Cherry trees bloom down by the Tidal Basin! It is true beauty and almost magical.
But, this year it feels like we have missed something in between a warm fall and a beautiful spring…So again: where did the winter end up? Why did we get snubbed?
Now it is almost time to get the garden in shape again, to get the deck in shape and start another season enjoying the outdoors. So, how come I am not ready?
Pretty soon the humid and hot days will be upon us again; pretty soon the AC’s will hum in all houses and in all cars.
Another summer in Washington…
I don’t mind, of course, but I had wanted a real winter in between. A winter with at least 3-4 snow storms. I’d wanted to take more pictures of the snow, I’d wanted to go sledding more, and I just wish we would have seen more of the white stuff. Not only rain and grayness and ice.
But it is what it is. And quite frankly, I think I am having spring feelings, too. It is nice when the evenings are lighter, and when the air turns warmer. I do look forward to be able to sit out on the deck again. This Saturday we will switch over to daylight savings time again, a full three weeks before Europe switches over.
I am no fan of switching the time back and forth twice a year. I think it is pretty stupid. Just pick a time and stick with it, ALL year long. And for some reason it is always so confusing for a bunch of people, are we turning back the time? or moving forward? Spring forward, and Fall back, easy as that.
So how about you? Do you feel snubbed?
Have a great Tuesday!
Spring in DC? Or winter?
