Morning Glories!!
Happy New Year!!
When I am STARTING writing this post it is 1 AM Eastern Standard Time...
I just got home from the party, and it turned out to be a success!
Thanks to Ingrid and Richard for throwing a good one!!
Anyway, I am going to summarize the year right now. Or start at least, I'll continue with most of it tomorrow since I am quite sleepy now.
Needless to say this list got completed today, New Year's Day morning around 9:30.
I've found this list on Swedish Petra's blog (Petra always writes in English, or almost always, check her blog out!). She inspired me to write my own list so here it goes:
Trip of the year:
It has to be the same trip as every year, the yearly trip to Scandinavia that is a must every summer. This year Peter was in Sweden for three weeks, and Karolina and I were in Sweden and Finland for seven weeks.
Weddings of the year:
2007 was definitely the year of weddings in my family.
IN April my sister Sara and Håkan got married outside the City Hall in Stockholm. I missed this wedding, sadly enough.
IN June my brother Staffan and Lisa got married! They threw a big wedding, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
IN July my aunt Lisbeth got married to Börje. They eloped from Österbotten:-), and got married on the island of Åland instead.
Weekend of the year:
All right, the long weekend of the year must have been when we went skiing in March in Snowshoe, West Virginia. So much fun, and scary as well! But we did well, all of us.
Book of the year:
I can easily say that the book of the year for me was Anna Gavlada’s “Hunting and Gathering, or as I read it in Swedish “Tillsammans är man mindre ensam”
Restaurant of the year:
Morton’s Steakhouse. All is right there, from the food to the atmosphere.
Phenomenon of the year:
I have to go with Petra’s answer here: My blog, and other blogs. I am still surprised and happy that my own blog is so popular! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all my readers! I am so happy that you want to follow my every-day life and share my thoughts about all and nothing.
The same goes for other blogs that I read! It is fantastic! And I can honestly say that I have met new, and super good friends over the blogs! One blogger even took the time out to find my phone-number yesterday to call me! You know who you are…I got so happy, and surprised, when you called!
Fika of the year:
Fika of the year has got to be all my gatherings with my good Swedish friends here in Northern VA. We always get together once a week to have lunch or breakfast, and of course, fika!!
Baby of the year:
My nephew David Hugo, born on Dec, 27 2007. Our Christmas baby! Welcome to the world, cute David!!!
Busiest travel month of the year:
August, we got home from Sweden just to turn right around and travel by car down to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
Scariest experience of the year:
Skiing
Lunch partner of the year:
My dear Swedish friends here in VA!
Longest flight of the year:
Same one as always---Washington-Copenhagen-Stockholm.
Family time of the year:
Ah, an easy question to answer: It always takes place in our beloved summer house in Närpes. That is where we all get together, have loads of fun and kick back! Five weeks of complete “let yourself go time”.
New friend of the year:
My blogging friends!!! Fantastic to have you all!!!
Coolest photos of the year:
All these photos are taken around our summerhouse.
BBQ-chef of the year:
Hard question, my husband Peter’s steaks maybe, OR my father-in-laws Pete’s wonderful bbq-skills. Pete can make everything taste like heaven! Pete B, I think you’ll win this reward!!
Sweetest of the year:
That my grandma, who’s 89 years old, is such a strong lady!! Brilliant mind, humorous, has patients with her great-grandkids. Despite her bad knees she still take daily walks, she bikes and she keeps herself extremely busy all the time. She’s a truly amazing woman!
Hobby of the year:
Photographing, easily!! And, of course, writing!
And what do you all think about New Year's Day? Must be one of the bleakest days of the year. The holidays are over, you are sure to have at least a slight hang-over, reality is about to hit hard again tomorrow Wednesday.
But, on the other hand it is a clean start! Let's think about it like that!
Happy New Year!!!
